And I'm thinking about generating D2MAC signal using FPGA logic... As I've read, it is not very difficult to make multiplexed signal and generate digital packets in every frame... I have old Nokia 8003S receiver, which has built-in D2MAC decoder... I'll make experiments on it :)

Hey Byteman - have you had any joy with this? I have an old Philips FilmNet decoder as well. Would be nice to get schematics for this.

Anyway, is there a way to use the videocrypt decoder, as an encoder? So I connect a video signal on the decoder, an the encoded signal comes out?

Probably - MTV Germany used to send a VideoCrypt flag on their unencrypted channel and any receiver with a VideoCrypt decoder inside scrambled the channel

Not sure how to generate this flag though.

I've got four on the go here, a pair of Grundigs being used on the 23cm and 10GHz ATV repeaters from Brighton and two Phillips used as modulators for cameras, one on the front of the house, one in the back garden. All four are squeezed onto empty channels and fed into the DA round the house.

you can use the 10.7 IF ceramic filters to DX ready your FM receiver for 130kHz bandwidths ;)

Recently I did we did some cleanup, and give away a lots of analouge recivers (for demolition). I've kept some receivers (Pace Prima, MSS 200 Series), and 2 Videocrypt decoders (Nordmende Vc500 and Thomson Multichoice). I've opened the Thomson decoder, and found some interesting thing. There is inside a jumper-like thing (a standard pc jumper fits it), but I don't know if it may be uesd for jumpers. I've mesured from the middle pin to left and right side +1,5V and -1,5V. What do you guys think, should I try the jumper on the pins? I think it's fore some test mode, but I couldn't find any manuals for the decoder. I've made some photos about the whole decoder, you can watch these here:

From memory (and it was a loooooooong time ago ) the pins were used to select audio looping through the decoder if the receiver had a SCART lead connection.

Thanx for the answer. And from the topic I have another question. Someone mentioned the 10GHz ATV receiveing, I've read about it seweral things, but it's not clear for me, where can I found those stations? Could I receive some ATV signal in hungary?

So I've got a last question, about something else. I've got some switches laying orund: 12V, 22Kz and magn.polarizer controlled. I've got 2 old receivers: Pace MSS 200 series and a Pace Prima (both multichoice version). Can I use the magn.polarizer controlled switch with these receivers? Thes don't have any polarizer output, but maybe on the decoder scart socket is some swtich signal? I've had an MSS1000 series, wich had magn.pol. out, but sadly the psu failed and tuner did some short circuit and won't boot after psu got repaired.

Never having subscribed to any channel I have no idea on the requirements behind auto SCART decoder setups. The analogue section of the forum does go back quite a few years though.

Why do you want to use a magnetic polariser though, they are frequency dependent.

Not analogue of course ..but should you fancy a colour bar generator ...a friend of mine from my Technicians TV group posted this to youtube some time ago ..
neat eh?
Should you want one that is ..

Never expected this thread to resurface, still not given my MSS300 a use, I just like to keep it around cos I like it... :D

I got some thought about making a scart switch (with remote!) from one of my analouge receivers. The selceted one is a Pace MSS200 series.

The first level is easy, switching between 2 devices: Using the VCR input with the standard scart switch signal (when turned on the external device, the receiver switches to the vcr input). Using the decoder scart, just need to selcet AV/0 on the remote, or set for a program the decoder to dec-av.

The hardest part is adding 1 or 2 another inputs. This reciver has an integrated VC-II (former Multichice) decoder.
I thought about adding another rca/scart, and feeding the signal where normally the decoded singal cames out from the VC area (cutting the trace/output from chip). Switching made possible with the vc status. (I read about it in the service manual). If the vc status is high, the receiver would think, it needs to get the signal from the decoder area (where i feed my external signal). There an option in the program menu "external switch", wich would make a 12V signal on the decoder socket, I would strip that, add a voltage regulator and connect to the vc status line, making the switch possible from menu.
The other input method could be feeding the cvbs or rgb signal after the tuner, fakeing the receiver that is comes signal directly from the dish. This needs more exsamination in the service manual. Sadly, the manual i found on the net has in the videocrypt area has huge black stripes on it (I think it was made for copyright so it cold not be copied/scanned). On the weekend I try to make measurements and try to figure out something, but I'm not an electric engineer, so could somebody say something that something could work about this?
I have another receiver, a Pace Prima (aslo with integrated VC-II), I woud accept a service manual/ schema for it.
Any thoughts are welcome :)

The reason is that I'm trying to make this, I have several old consoles (nes, snes, etc.) wich give the best picture on a crt tv, and this way I don't need to pull out-plug in the cabels from the tv every time changing console. But it's also a nice sutdy about these stbs. Sorry for the long post, and for some grammal failitures.

You could save yourself the trouble and use multiple crts.

I've got some news about the project: If I'm feeding the singal to to the C217 next to the Nicky3 chip, the receiver thinks it comes from the tuner, so i can get a good picutre.
I'm trying to get another input, via the decoder selector switch U21 (4052). I'm feeding the signal into the U21 switch at pin 14, and into the chip at pin 10 goes 5V dervied (with the usage of 7805 ic) from the decoder scart pin 10 where the receiver sends 14 V (if external switch in the tuning menu is set to on). Above is a video how it works (or better saying not works). I think it's missing the sync signal, and you can see in the floating picture the vbi/teletext data. It needs more investigations, how to get it to work.
