some guys said: you can't find a v-box positioner, but these days I'm looking for an actuator, strong enough and 10 inch or less. (this is for the declination on my 2m prime) I only find a very thin actuator, I have many old 18 or 24 inch actuators but it is too long for this use.
I find out an interesting thing about the actuator: the worm inside is still imperial size and all of my 18 and 24 actuators are 8 turns per inch, the smallest is 13 turns per inch: it is called 8UN or 13UN.
with the reed sensor and counting each change of state I get 8 pulses per revolution so it's 64 pulses / inch so you can calculate each sat position.
PS Can someone sell me a short powerful actuator?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

What size of actuator do you think is suitable, 12" or shorter ?

Once you go below 12" the size of everything (shaft diameter/rose joint/clamp bolts) is about 60% of the full size

Is there no dealer in France selling actuators, shipping from outside could be prohibitive.

of course , the great dealer in south of france (bruno from 2galli) sell only a big 36 inch (perfect for azimut) every where they provide usals motor .
"shipping from outside could be prohibitive" especially from usa i havent test it from UK , rest of EU can be OK.

I'm not familiar with the innards of actuator tubes but could it be possible to shorten them?

Any good?

A 5V source is needed for the optical switch. Some v-boxes have a red connection for a 5V supply

The original advert stated delivery was included in the price, however, for overseas delivery there would be an extra postage charge

Try looking for a linear actuator for a hospital bed, their short and strong, but I don't know if they are outdoor rated. (if your moving a dish with it)
