I am going to have a dish for hotbird and get a new receiver.
Just need a bit of advice on what is the best set up in terms of receiver ( patched ? ) and cams and cards to recieve adult stuff and sport and films but mainly the adult stuff !!!.

the best reciever for the moment is golden interstar 8005 you can have no only the chanels in hot bird but olso taquilla and digital + in hispasat plus all tv cabo the price is only 80 pounds , any quetion i m ready to answear.

Yes - get a technomate 1000CI, or 1500CI.
Very well supported with patches, good senisitve tuner, CI slot if you want anything with a subscription that isn't available with the software patch.
Not expensive either.

I'll second that, get the TM1500 CI+ it's bloody good, easy to use, and cheap.:)

If I get a patched receiver do I not need any cams or cards or do I still need a card.

A patched receiver is the same as using a cam really. You will need a card for channels that are not patchable. Artsport requires a card for example. TM1500CI+ super is an excellent receiver and already pointed out above is well supported for patches.

just got my technomate 1500 CI+ as a result of all the thumbs up it recieves.
just one small question,do i need a cam for it in order to watch Digitalb,or will it work without.
has a smart card lot as well as a cam slot.
any help much appreciated

Hello jonnyboy, you will need an offical conax card to watch digitalb on 16 east. Well worth the money, probally one of the best packages around. The card will work fine in a 1500ci+, no patch required.
