My Satellite Setup
technomate 60cm dish and technomate motor TM-2600M3. Windows 10
My Location
Warwick
My latitude is 52
Longitude is -1.6
Elevation is 38
Declination angle is 7.5
My dish has offset 26 degrees
If I wanted to pick up satellite Thor at 0.8 degree W which has an
elevation of 30.2 degrees, what angle would dish need to be?
Any help grateful, thanks

If your motorized dish is set up correctly all you need to do is drive it to 0.8W.
Personally I would recommend a bigger dish, than 60cm, you might want to change it for a 80-90cm dish.
Try using william-1's strongest transponders guide, for scanning in satellites:

thanks for that.
with the motorised dish set up it says dish elevation should be 22.5 degrees when pointing south, but if my dish has offset of 26 degrees does that mean my dish elevation should be
3.5 degrees or -3.5 degrees? Or does it stay as 22.5 degrees? Sorry if this sounds so stupid but cant get my head around all the numbers.

Your Longitude is -1.6, which equates to 1.6 West.
I assume you are using Usals, to move your dish, so if you are just setting it up, for the first time, set everything to 0, Motor, Dish, LNB skew, then use your receiver to drive it to a satellite, like 0.8W, and manually move it, to get a signal.
Use dishpointer.com, to get roughly where you should be aiming.
Type in your postcode, in the location bar, select Thor 0.8W, from the satellites option, then zoom in on the map, and move the green icon, to your house, and where you have the dish installed.
Installation, and finding a satellite, is always easier using a satfinder device, I use a very cheap one.

This lights up, when everything is working correctly, and you can use the sensitivity to locate, and maximize the signal, of a satellite.

There are many transponders on the satellite that you just cannot get with the dish you have at your location. What are you trying to receive?

Make sure you are looking at one of the wide beam transponders - a frequency on Thor 5 T2 or Thor 6 K2 beams. Forget the Nordic beams - you aint going to get them on a small dish.

with the motorised dish set up it says dish elevation should be 22.5 degrees when pointing south,

but if my dish has offset of 26 degrees does that mean my dish elevation should be3.5 degrees or -3.5 degrees?

"It" meaning your motor manual?
In that case with the 22,5 degrees dish elevation usually is meant 22,5 degrees on the elevation scale of the dish.
So if you use the elevation scale for setting the elevation, use that value.

If you want to set the dish elevation using a spirit level or plumb line: your needed dish elevation is 30.5 degrees to perfect south; the dish allready accounts for 26 degrees offset angle, so there remains 4.5 degrees needed elevation to the plumb line.
That means the top of the dish has to lean 4.5 degrees backwards.

(I hope my reasoning capabilities were allright at this hour, and I didn't make a mistake....)

It is (0.8W to be precise).

But the latter interchange is about Elevation, not Azimuth.

Even if it were about Azimuth, the bearing required to acquire the Satellite varies considerably depending upon one's own position in the coverage area.

Of the 7 Thor satellites so far only one (Thor 4 aimed at central Europe) has ever been located at 1 W - most of the rest have spent time at 0.8 W

The difference between 0.8 and 1 W is practically immaterial on smaller dishes but on 1m and above it can be significant.

I almost feel sorry for Thor 1. Almost, because I never had a dish big enough to receive it...
