Your LNB details are completely screwed. I've no idea what those local oscillator frequencies are meant to be.

Your Lo: frequency should be 9750 and Hi: frequency 10600. So, set those in first instance and never change them. Ever.

Then enter details for BBC World News on 1W. So, you go to this site: - Thor 5/6/7 & Intelsat 10-02 at 0.8°W - LyngSat

Search for BBC World News on the page, which will give you the following details:

Frequency: 10778 H, SR: 24500, FEC: 7/8.

So, F: in your screenshot should be 10778 and SR: 24500. FEC is usually automatic. Polarity is already set correctly...

Stephen, your main issue was LNB setup - without correct local oscillator frequencies, you would never get a lock and you were luck to get a lock on 28E.

To explain how it works, let's take BBC World News frequency 10778 MHz. This is FAR too high a frequency for the cable to carry, which are limited to carry up to 2500 MHz. So, one of the LNB's main job is to convert those high frequencies to bring into a range that the cable can handle. This is where the local oscillator (LO) frequency comes in. For the frequency in the example, the LO is 9750 MHz. This essentially tells the LNB by how much the frequency should be dropped by. So, 10778 minus 9750 = 1028 MHz - that's the actual frequency that the receiver "sees" on the cable.

Now, there's a cut off point at 11700 MHz, where the LO changes from 9750 MHz to 10600 MHz - this is controlled by the 22 kHz tone (again don't touch this one either - leave it on auto). This means mean that satellite frequencies above 11700 MHz are being converted by 10600 MHz. So, a frequency of 12632 MHz on satellite is reduced by 10600 MHz to 2032 MHz for the cable to carry to the receiver.

There are two blocks of frequencies:

Low band: 10750 MHz to 11699 MHz - LO is 9750 and 22kHz is off
High band: 11700 MHz to 12750 MHz - LO is 10600 and 22kHz is on

Your low band LO was set to 11595 MHz, which means your entered frequency of 11637 was down-converted to just 42MHz. The lowest down-converted frequency possible is 1000 MHz (10750 minus 9750). With LO of 11595, you should potentially receive frequencies from around 12595 MHz to 12750 MHz, but the details would appear wrong on screen. This is probably what was happening with 28E.

OK, that's enough drilling... for now, just keep it simple.

Much better. You should be able to catch it in no time... I set up a temporary dish dish and locked 1W before I even touched it - all from initial set up. Once you've done it a few times, it'll be second nature.

That signal looks ok, obviously the more you can squeeze out, the better.

Please read from the start of this thread regarding where to go from here. Plenty of advice.

one question if know one minds ? have got getting 97% signal and quality 97% now my issue is when I send the dish to 45w it locks on but when I send it back to thor 0.8 the motor does not go back properly so does not lock back onto thor now the poll is plum I have reset the motor to 0 any suggestions ? before I decide to pay someone to sort it and save myself 65quid

Firstly, no one minds, my post re exorcism was facitious and not intended to offend.
The first motor I used was either defective on just not man enough for the weight of the dish. I bought another motor and have not looked back since. Have been perplexed, and on occasion down right p***** o**, but have to say when you get to the next bird on the arc euphoria sets in

I hate it when motors don't land where they are supposed to. I would say a new motor... but first, how are you driving the dish? Is it via USALS? I.e. you entered your coordinates etc. and that's it? Or DiSEqC method, where you store locations manually for each satellite? Either way, it shouldn't do it.

What if you drive it to 5W and then back to 0.8W - does it land OK then?

Your screenshot shows you're at 29.7W! That would put you in the middle of the Atlantic somewhere! Liverpool is 2.97W...

Correct that at first instance and see how it is. You may need to realign your dish back on 0.8W with the correct coordinates.
