Greetings from a wet and windy Mullion Cove Cornwall.

Using a Recent Primesat Box with a Technomate TM-5402HD C1+ Super + with actuators.

Some advice from you most learned gentlemen if you would be so kind : )

I have just fitted a new jack as the old one had a small amount of backlash.

I set the new jack to the same amount extended, so that after it was installed it was on the same sat about 7 East.

As expected when driven to other sats it did not arrive at the correct spot, so I used the third button up on the right hand side of the remote control which allows you to drive east or west and save the position.

This all worked fine until trying to set 45 west.

I have a scale fitted to the mount that is visible via a camera at the operating position.

Using the remote it would move a couple of clicks towards to the correct spot then do nothing, then after a few more clicks go right passed the required setting.

The same problem occurred in the opposite direction.

If I go into the menu and use the motor setting, I can drive it easily to the correct position and save it.

This tells me that it is not a mechanical problem.

I did also check to see if the dish moved freely all the way East West, which it does.

It will also drive way past the position require to the West no problem.

Is it possible that the memory is full in the Primesat Box and requires clearing of all previous settings ?

Are you using the primesat, to move, and store, the positions, or do you have a coax cable looped through to your receiver?
You might have a limit set on the primesat,

Good evening Mickha,

The coaxial cable goes from the receiver to the Primesat then on to the dish.

Two pairs then from the Primesat to the jack.

With the type of motor with the Elephant trunk, ( not the one I have ) I thought that though the positions were stored in the receiver the motor also had memory to store them.

So I assumed that with a jack the primesat also had a memory, even though the contor signal comes from the receiver ?

There was no problem with any preset on the Primesat with the old jack.

I had better do some reading to see how it all works, unless some one can enlighten me : )

I have done some reading about the Primesat box which says that it takes its commands from the receiver, but does it also says that it has its own memory.

I do not use the remote for the primesat box just the receiver, but if I use the Primesat remote to reset it, will it loose all the sats positions ?

Or are the Primesat Box memories only use when it is a stand alone unit not fed by a receiver ?

Yes, if you hard reset the primesat box you will lose all your settings. Are you sure you cannot just disable the software limits in the Primesat box? that way your positions would be saved.

Hallo thank you for your reply : )

It may well be possible to disable the software limits in the primsat box, I will look through the paper work that came with it and see if it helps.

Thing is though it will drive way past the position I am having difficulty with, so from that I deduced that it had not reached any limits.

Also it will set that sats position using the motor drive in the receivers menu with no problems.

I just did a blind scan on 45 West with a 1.3 Precision dish, just four data channels that came up as radio.

A year or so back there was one channel called RASD TV, mostly guys on camels with guns : )

Did once receive a BBC chanel testing I think, the signals were 84% quality.

I don't know about the primesat, but my V-Box II, is linked to my receiver, via the coax cable, and only the V-Box II stores the motors positioning, to drive the dish to the appropriate satellite.
My receiver, a VU+ Duo 2, has the satellites stored in exactly the same numerical sequence, as the V-Box II, for example the V-Box II has Astra 1, 19.2E, stored on position 1, thus I have to set up my receivers tuner to have Astra 1, 19.2E, on position 1, that way when I select a channel, on my receiver, the V-Box II drives my dish to the appropriate satellite.
With a 36v motor you have 4 wires, going from the motor, to the V-Box II, two of these wires are what moves the motor.

Good morning Mickha & Scopus,

Thank you for your advice, the function of the receiver and the V box is now clear.

The receiver sends a signal to the V Box, which knows the number of pulses it should get back from the reed switch on the jack. it then stops the power to the motor in the jack.

I have been in electronics since 1961, so understand most things of this kind, but now it is 100% clear.

The memory in the receiver is of a specific satellite, the V Box holds the position.

I am going to replace the vertical jack today if the weather will let me, one moment the sun is out, the next a squall comes in and the wind hits 40 mph : )

I gave up on my run this morning, boy it was rough, a bought of flue is not helping either.

Thank you again God Bless Spiff
