If you go to their .co.uk website you'll see on their frontpage a PC base unit. Click on the image and you'll see quite a nice looking PC - then check out it's specs...

2x DVB-S tuners
2x DVBxT tuners
1x UHF/CATV tuner

Then...

SCART socket, s-video in/out, 250 gig HDD, DVD-/+ R/RW and remote control.

Seems like sat stuff to me! :-doh! :D Providing there's decent third party support for the DVB-S/T tuners it seems like amazingly good VFM to me and the kind of thing I've been looking for in a satellite receiver for years. For what you get (hardware wise*) it would appear better value than a Dreambox/Topfield/Kaon/Triple Dragon.

*I say that but then who knows what DVB cards are in it? They may be £30 jobbies!

dunno wot jphili is on about.
TJE was kind enough to impart this information to members on "The Meeting Place Chat Forum" of this board. I think that was nice of him as not everyone gets weekly downloads from the German Supermarket chains.

That PC I mentioned seems well specified for the money. At least I think so!

But it's only a p4 3.0Ghz

Dual layer DVD writers are under £30, ram is cheap.

Would you spend £750 at Aldi? (this is not to knock the original post, merely my opinion on the PC. )

Well if the DVB cards are good enough and all the other elements added up (and if I could justify spending another £750 on myself right now) then YES, not a problem. Not been in an Aldi before but they can't be any worse than a dedicated electrical/PC shop such as a Comet or a DSG store.
