Always Win 7 - Update failure, why ?

Yes, that was the reason, neither update was in the machine.

Now downloading over a GB of rubbish (148 important updates), and I assume there will be additional necessary to fix the new issues once they are installed

Hmm. All updates bar one have loaded correctly, though I had to start three times over the past 24 hours.

Now I have the scrolling circle in normal mode but no operation, even after 20 minutes.

Had to force a shutdown and start in safe mode.

Will see if anything needs to be cleaned.

Carried out a general clean with CCleaner, now got Error 80244019, (failure to connect to Windows server).

Will delve further but it's looking like its going to take up the whole weekend.

Just a temporary glitch, downloading the last of the updates.

...and when all is working, immediately make a disk image and store it safely (recommend: Macrium Reflect). Then do regular imaging therafter, keeping a few recent ones.

So next time something happens or one wants a refresh, it's 10 minutes (instead of 10 days :O)
