I cannot get a good picture. It seems like there is no horizontal and vertical hold but I can see a picture in there somewhere, mainly purple and green broken up.

I get mainly German language but all channels look the same apart from CNN in English but no picture.

CNN is on 1.621 V. This does not tie up with the listed frequency 11627 V.

I have tried adjusting the dish with my TV right beside me with a brand new 2M cable. Wherever I position the dish I cannot get a good picture.

I have a basic knowledge of electronics and TV but no experience with Satellite TV.

I don’t have the manual for the Amstrad SRD600 so it’s all trial and error.

The list of available channels on the Analoguesat website are displayed ***** H or V

The Amstrad displays *.***. I can sort the H and V out ok but cannot work out the frequencies. The presets would have been set up 5 or 10 years ago.

Can anyone advise please?

the amstrad srd 600 was basicly a d 2 mac decoder have you gone in to the menus to see if the d 2 mac is switched on or of
if d 2 mac is still on thats why the picture is green and purple the decoder is trying to decode the picture even though the signal is not in d 2 mac

There's a switch on the back:

PAL MAC VCR

Different positions don't make any difference.

I don't have a remote so I don't know how to get into the menus.

A user manual would be a great help.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Maybe this page could be of some help?

_http://www.your-book.co.uk/srd600.htm

But without a remote, things can be a little difficult to set up, especially as what you have as a setup sounds pretty old so could be any number of things... :)

Maybe if you could find another analogue box with a remote, that might help... :)

are you useing a universal lnb
as the srd 600 are that old they run on the old 10 gig lnb like the old blue cap lnbs on the old white amstrad dishes
and basicly with out the remote you mite as well sling it in the bin
