...
BTW, before the broadcast the channel was showing a long list of future Andre Rieu concerts - will they be actually on the same channel on Insat 10-02 , or is it only this one?
Great show!:-clap

However - from the trailer at the end of the show - it looks like the next broadcast to the cinemas will the Mastrict concerts on 27-28th July :(

PS: Assuming that the cinemas were getting a "better than" 1920x1080 feed, does anyone have any idea of from where/how they get that?
(FWIW, I would have thought that a terrestrial f/g cable feed might be the "answer")
PPS: the sat feed had about 4 momentary "stutters" - but could have been because we were viewing via the the TD88 with the RF coax switch and a Smart Priority Switch :unsure

next one scheduled for 27 July
And then repeated on 28 July. Website is André Rieu -

PS: we went to see the Cinema showing of "Pavarotti" last night (it was pretty good - although much of the old video used was understandably relatively poor by modern standards.), and there were several electronic "posters" in the foyer advertising future similar showings such as
- 31st August - William Shakespeares "Measure for Measure" (website: What's On and Book Tickets | Royal Shakespeare Company
- 1st October - Placido Domino from Verona (website: www.cinemalive.com)

NB: the posters had website addresses on them but the Rieu & RSC ones didn't work, and so I've added those that do seem to work.

I wonder if these broadcasts will be using the same sat/transponder that will be used for the Andrieu Rieu broadcasts - anyone have any ideas/leads?

The 2018 feed is on now on 1 West, same frequency 11473 V 13310. Channel name ANDRE RIEU.
The latest 2019 concert is due to be shown in cinemas this evening and also tomorrow evening, and so I'm waiting to see if they are going to use the same sat/transponder (as above) as used last year and earlier this year, so that I can record it.

There's nothing on that transponder ATM, and maybe not until mid-afternoon UK time (the channel went live last time a few hours before the actual broadcast) - but has anyone else seen signs of it anywhere else?

Thanks - but can't see anything there that obviously relates to forthcoming Andre Rieu broadcasts - am I missing something?

Update.

Well, that transponder on 1W hadn't come live by 18.30 UK time, and I now doubt that it ever did because:

- SWMBO wanted to see the show in the local cinema and paid an extortionate price to buy the tickets, and so we went there!
- The show must (IMHO!) have been in some form of UHD (or higher) definition format because it was very sharp on the large screen, whereas the previous transmissions on 1W were (AFAIK) in 1920 x 1080 format.
- Therefore I'm guessing that it was on another transponder, and/or possibly even another sat - and even possibly encrypted (?) - because that transponder is on 1W, which is a sat with strong coverage of a large area of Northern Europe, is "well-known" and so the programme makers would have wanted to ensure that it could not be viewed f.o.c. by "too many" people!

So, the "hunt" for future transmissions of Andrew Rieu shows, and other similar broadcasts, seems to now be "ON"!

As for the show itself, the video and audio was pretty good - although much of the music, and the on-stage "antics", was very similar to what you can see in previous programmes shown on sat tv (Sky UK in our case), but there were a few quite decent "surprises" :D.

All the cinema publicity in the UK mentions 'live by satellite' for both Saturday and Sunday, but the BBFC site mentions just one performance passed for distribution, recorded on the 22nd July.

So it is almost certain the content was sent over sometime in the past week, just to ensure the two weekend matine showings go without a hitch.

That alternative had certainly come to mind before the "live by satellite" broadcast to be the most likely "option", but I then forgot to mention it in my post late last night:-doh - and that thus might mean the same thing happens for most of the forthcoming "live by satellite" broadcasts from "wherever" ("Trade Descriptions Act" and similar regs compliance then comes to mind!)

Andre and his handlers would only need to get enough footage in the can for the cinema by editing bits from a couple of previous performances, avoiding the risk of rain, pestilence, locusts etc. in the last weekend of July.

Has anyone actually checked he is appearing in Maastricht this weekend ?
