....that went to TJ last month. £35 plus £8 postage to the UK mainland.

For Sale - Jaeger 1224 Horizon to Horizon Mount - see condition

Similar condition and again without the top cover. I do not have the front bracket that allows bolting to anything prime focus because TJ is using it to put the 1.8 together. We ran both together at his property and the gearbox is smooth and motor is almost silent . All bolts have surface corrosion on them but are perfectly useable.

Once again if I find the missing part before it's posted/collected then its yours, but really locating the other was more luck than anything.

I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow

Thanks for looking

Why do these things come up when I have no funds!
What is needed to connect this to a CM 1.2?

Off to list things on eBay :)

You already have a motor drive on the CM, this would be surplus to requirements.

I know I know, but a 1224 is the better than a Clone "SuperJackOff" surely?

What can the top cover replaced with, would it be easy to obtain?
If this would fit my CM 1.0m then I would be interested.

Yes, it is a lot better. It's just my personal opinion but for a dish up to 1.2m the Jaeger 1224 is possibly the best there is. It gives full E/W arc coverage and is easy to install and adjust for elevation and declination.

You can also fit an elevation actuator on the lower casing to give to a version of inclined tracking. For satellites closer to the centre of the arc the inclined tracking is OK using the lower case fixing point for the elevation actuator. However as you get to the extremes of the arc the accuracy starts to wander a bit for inclined tracking using the lower case fixing point.

All in all, the 1224 is one of the best motors ever made for the size of dish it c.an cope with.

Now I didn't know that about the elevation actuator, thank you for that information.
I want one all the more now :D

CH, will this go straight on the CM 1.2 or are other bits needed?

The two plates top and bottom have a four bolt system at the sharp end ( two above, two below) to hold the plate that would normally fix the prime focus dish, as per TJ and the IRTE back plate, though this is not with this motor

Since the two bolt holes face each other rather than forward to the arc, I would dhazard a guess more is needed to fit a fibreglass reflector such as the CM.

Of course the advantage to Rusty is that he would be able to fabricate a cover with that printer of his, so if he gets it first he could sell on at a premium..... sorry , bargain price to other members once complete.

I should have a picture or two in an hour or so when I pull it out of the car, though Im sure TJ put images in the other thread.

The other thread

Precision 1.8 C Band renovation.

This one however is better condition but is NOT with the 5" ring clamps (standard is 3 / 3.5" ), or the inclined orbit tracking pivots/bearings, though the mounting points for the second motor bracketry are there on the 1224 baseplate.

Images of the main unit. @RS - confirmation by 2.30 pm (I can PM you straight away for bank detail supply) should enable the wife to get the parcel ready for a courier before the weekend, otherwise Gap30 gets second bite.

Thanks for the pics, that's in really nice condition.

I'd love to have it but fabricating/finding the bits to connect it to my dish seems to prove difficult so far.

If gap30 can make use of it with what he has it would be better to let it go to him.

That 1224 is in good condition, a lot better than some of the ones that come up for sale. If I did not have 4 of these I would be on the sniff in this topic. However, I will keep my sniff for the remote possibility that SMO-36 gets put up for sale, there will be some heavy sniffers in on that one.

Rusty,

You can easily get a plate knocked up to secure a CM 1.2m dish to that 1224. A couple of vertical struts of angle iron or box section and a square steel plate is all you need. Sorting out a top cover is the less easy task but some thin flexible plate should do the job.

I have attached a couple of photos below of a Jaeger 1224 plate. This one has had some extra holes drilled into it to accomodate a Precision dish.
The CM 1.2m dish only needs the 4 holes centred at the correct point in the plate.

Now I've downsized and no longer have a welder, tools and somewhere to work simple things like that are impossible sadly.

I can't do much with it as I need the brackets for my CM, have you got those bits or can make them? If so grab it :)
