... Looking good PD, nice job. Just wondering, did you string it after tightening the reflector up on to the back plate, mine showed quite a bit of warping
No I never thought to string it. When it stops raining I will have a look.

At the minute I have a 1mt Gibby the 1.2mt Gibby and the 1.8 CM. If you look close at the picture you can see the 1.8 and a 1.5 IRTE laid on the grass.

Very cool. I have the exact same prime focus in the garage but, sadly, nowhere to put it. Can you take a picture of the back of it? I don't have a mount for it so would need to fabricate something.

Thanks - is the PM the same for the PF as it is for the offset one?

If all mounts was made for PF dishes they would be universal PF/OS by just extending/shortening the elevation rod,

Most OS mounts you have to start fabricating to get them to work a PF dish, it a money making racket if you ask me, the 1224 was best just an adaptor plate, look at sss PF and O/S it only the dish fixing plate that differs.

The back half of the mount is the same (the part that fits the pole). The ring on the back of the dish is different. I will get some measurements for you today.

I was searching through all my stuff the other day, and found the brackets that fit on the ribs of the CM PF then onto the polar mount ring. Might be useful to you CJ....

If CJ got the brackets off Scopus you could make a square frame from angle iron quite easily.

Nice adaptation for the 1224!

But do I understand your picture sequence correctly in that you took down a CM120 (which is 120x120 effective) to replace it with a Gibertini 125 (which is 121 x 121 effective)?
Can you tell a difference in signal?

Yes I took down the 1.2 cm and replaced it with the Gibertini 125. I will let you know which performs the better. using different lnb's the CM had a C120 the Gibertini has an Inverto ultra

Now that spring seems is approaching (10 degrees Celcius today), I thought it would be good to do the usual spring-thing and put up a (new) dish.:D

The Gibertini seemed to be compatible with the Laminas tripod, so up it went.

IMAG3297_30pct.jpg IMAG3298_30pct.jpg IMAG3300_30pct.jpg IMAG3303_30pct.jpg IMAG3305_30pct.jpg IMAG3311_30pct.jpg

It's not really pointing at anything, spent most of the time applying WD40, loosening and tightening bolts, and figuring out how best to use the adjustments on the mounting bracket.

Notice how the mounting bracket is too tall for the Laminas tripod - only the lower lip of the upper clamp actually has contact with the pole. Earlier this autumn, I was considering angle-grinding off the top 6 cm pipe to leave a 75mm pipe (the lower part), which works much better with Channel Master polar mounts. But I think the pole might be too low then to allow proper mounting of dishes.
There's always something in the way, isn't there?

I have also previously stated in this thread that this dish could go on the SMW polar mount; it is now clear that the design does NOT support this without radical (angle grinder) modification.
@Llew's back-plate is clearly different from mine.

Instead, my dish is looking more and more likely to be destined to be a fixed affair pointing at 28.5E. I am looking forward to find out how it performs this duty.

Perhaps in the next couple of spring days (whenever they may occur...)?

Nice dish they perform well, if that's its final resting place wouldn't it be better wall mounted

Not the final resing place, just where the tripod happened to be (and where there are convenient coax termination points available) :)
I am hoping later in the week to start pointin at something meaningful to validate it will work.

I was thinking to use the dish for 28.5E, hooked up alongside the CM180 for 28.2E.
The dish will be mounted on the rear of the out-house, which is currently being used for dish storage...
