2x 1.2m motorised channelmasters . tm 5302, tm6902,
My Location
hampshire uk.
Is it a lnb substitute? so the dish is loaded for initial set up

OK, I will stop this mystery :). This device goes on top of the pipe and helps to move antenna East-West. Head of the bolt made in ball-shape, so the mount just turns on it very easy.

Well, you could have told us the dimension here:

...and it would have been easier to blind guess (as the device is not actually visible in the picture where said device is in...)

Anyway, why the brass insert?

you could have told us the dimension
Agree, but in post #17 I told that bolt is M16. So, you could approximate the size of the device. Brass insert.... well, just because I've made this device out of parts I already had. Brass insert works just as an adapter between the hole in main body of the device and the M16 bolt.

BTW, there is one out-of-shelve mount with Diseqc motor available, which uses same principle as the mount I've built last year. And principle is- turning axis goes through the center of gravity of the dish.
I just wander maybe some forum members already used it?
