hi dudes
.. i'm sure, that question has been posed many times before...
but ..is there any cam , that supports the original sky-viewing-card ??
i've got a nice receiver with ci-slots, diseq , a few dishes and won't
like to downgrade to one of these dodgi-boxes , provided by sky.

i've also heard that the "dreambox" should be compatible.

would be very happy about some information.

Some receivers, (dreambox) can emulate Videoguard at the moment, and the dragon cam can also use an original card to show the pay Sky channels. BUT the card has to be initialised in a sky box FIRST, and may need a few overnights in the digibox to get its keep alive signals.

Theres no guarantee that these emulations will keep running in the long term.

tnx a lot for the quick answer !!

we've got some activated cards and dodgiboxes to play with , though almost living in the middle of nowhere.

so first of all i'll get a dragon module to check it out.

...does anybody know , which specific "dreambox" (model and image)
can handle the sky-card ??

Just for info.
I have a Solus card and during the Dr Who series, ignored it and spare digibox while I stuck minidish feed into DB to record series (no card needed.)
When I went back after 3 months, of course the Solus card had long sinced sulked and wasnt working. Phoned Sky to reactivate and they said p*** off, Solus isnt supported but I can buy a Freesat card. Bought one. 2 days later, it arrived, went into my study to stuff it in and dammit, Solus was working again. So dont ever give up on a Sky card.
Both Solus and Freesat cards work in same receiver, just needs a few seconds when swapping for new one to kick in. I'll put Solus into dragon cam just as soon as I have a minute.

Go to ski box to which the ski card is married
In services menu get the box serial number (10 digits).
If you just have a card and dont know which box it came from, you're sunk.
Load latest predator 3.21 onto dragon,
Go into predator menu in CI menu on DB
Toggle to place where you can enter serial number
Enter ski box serial number incl leading zeros
Tune to encrypted channel
Insert ski card into dragon (contacts face up)
Voila.

I suspect the card might not get updated in DB so a fortnightly visit back to the original ski box might be in order.
