Hello everybody,

i am asking for a friend that is located in Southwestern Germany and
is desperate to find a 3m solid dish with f/D 0.36 or 0.41. Should
not be too expensive, because everywhere he asked around the prices
where quite high. An Irte or Jonsa should be fine but any other non-
meshed dishes could be ok as well. A polarmount is also needed for
the dish. No matter if it's used but in this case the condition
should be still fine, no scratches or whatsoever.
This shall result in a motorized C/KU System and the main reason for
it is the Turkey beam of 42E which hopefully can be gotten all the
time with 3m here.

If anybody has to offer something please tell me.
Thanks a lot for your time.

Best regards, Chris - Stuttgart/Germany

DH Antenna in the USA makes solid dishes.

They are very hard to ship, will cost a fortune, why don't you buy a larger petalized dish instead like the Prodelin 3.8m?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

When you say - no scratches - are you thinking of new or second hand ?

The 3.8m Prodelin is only available fixed, or at most , a limited dual axis version, and is really designed for receive transmit capability (very expensive at $30k.

Prodelin makes a 3m but the polarmount version is standard on a 3.7m version , available ex stock UK. Eight peice petalised fibreglass, but I would look at an after market horizon to horizon mount for full movement across the arc

First of all i have to thank you for your quick replies :)

Well if the dish would be for myself i would invest more in a new and high efficient dish, suppose Prodelin, DH, Andrew, Patriot all are in this field, right ? But those have to be shipped from the US and are thus extremely expensive though the best of the best.

What about Irte, Jonsa, Famaval and Supral ? I read a lot of your threads here and see that they are preferrably used for extremely weak signals like Astra 2D in the eastern Mediterranean. I know also about dishes produced in Bulgaria and Poland but have no idea of how good they are in performance, mechanically and weather resistance. In any case it must be a solid PFA of the above mentioned f/D and not an Offset.

But, this guy here wants something that does not perform bad nor too expensive like the first mentioned are. It doesn't matter him if the dish is used as long as it still does perform like a 3m. Some time ago he had the possibility to check a 2.4m Offset antenna and this got most of the frequencies on that beam he is interested in, so a 3m should do the job.

3.8m are oversized, as he told me 3.2m should be the maximum. By the way a H2H mount is not a bad idea so that he can go down to 0° elevation. Maybe it makes no sense in his location to go below 5° because of obstacles blocking these positions, isn't this the limit for polarmounts in such dimensions ? Well i gotta ask him why he does not want a H2H mount.

Any further help of yours is very welcome. Thanks for taking time.
Chris :)

P.S.: If he could get used a used 3m Fuba that would solve the problem i think since i saw them many years ago in Corfu/Greece and they looked quite fine. Also i read only positive things about their dishes and know also that german cable network providers have still some of them in use, if not many. Comparing the effectiveness with other dishes i have no idea of how good they are but at least he wouldn't have to drive too far to get it ;)

Sorry for beeing so late. Finally we found a 3m Channel Master in good condition for only 520€ :)

A Pakistani got it cheap some months ago from a shop that had to close down and so that's why it was so cheap. He also had it in use for some months only. But since he wants to catch Paksat 38E this size is not enough. Some got signal on 3m Mesh here in Germany although the footprint says <25dBW ;) So he will go to Pakistan and order a 4.50m Mesh. There are a lot of people producing them quite cheap and as far as i read in the romanian RDI forum there are many people receiving 13E on 1.80-3.50m. So they can't be rubbish.

Thanks again a lot for your help. Wish you all a merry Christmas :)
