Any one running dump 1090 willing to try an experiment?

I was thinking of trying to link up our dump1090’s trouble is I need someone willing to share their dump 1090 data port with me.

In return I will share my data port.

If this works out we might just be able to run our own satellites.co.uk virtual radar server.

Would anyone even go for this idea?

If your interested in this please say yes on this thread and send me a pm so we can try this link up.

Thanks.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

I set up a dedicated desktop pc for this on Friday, and was going to install the antenna this afternoon.

It's a possibility Chris, I just need to sort out a problem with my RPi to VRS on another PC (local host).

Can you help on this one? I have a connection from my RPi FR24 upstairs to my PC downstairs hosting VRS, but not sure how to display a map showing the planes from RPi's FR24.

Tried all the options clicking down from Local Address and Default boxes, but I obviously need an address that brings up a map showing the FR24 feeds.

(Not using local receiver's dump1090 ATM, just want the RPi feed).

TIA

Try using these

The dump 1090 port is 30002 AVR/beast
Flightradar24 port is 30105 avr/beast.

Then go to tools>options>merged feeds click the green cross and tick the boxes next to your dump/fr24 also ticking the little mlat box.

Then you should be able to see both feeds mixed into the 1 stream, via virtual radar server.

Hope this makes sense.

So I can't just have the PI feed showing on a map without the PC's receiver dump1090 working?

Yeah I'll join in as well - we wont get much useful mlat from my station as theres few other contributors anywhere near me! But you might get to see the A400 coming inbound from the north every couple of weeks.

It sounds like you need to add the IP address of the Pi to VRS instead of the 127.0.0.1 Address.

Example my Pi is IP address 192.168.1.59 only dump 1090 gives a map output. Flightradar24 only gives out the mlat data to feed into vrs.

Oh I see. Shame, I have a nice load of traffic coming down from the Pi to VRS, but can only see it in the Feed Status box - no map without it
being merged with the receiver feeds.

Thanks anyway, cheers.

Does the pi run dump1090 at all?

Try then 192.168.1.91:8080 that should give you the web page.

Or try 192.168.1.91/dump1090 depending on what version of dump it is.

Just quickly checking the version in the photo, it sounds like a reflash with say the FlightAware img could be the easiest option.

As some versions of the mutabilty version had no web interface.

Tried that before Chris. Doesn't connect using any browser. Odd isn't it?

No I get a web dump1090 map from the present RPi, but I have to stop FR24 feed (below)

But that's not the same as the VRS feed you get using a dongle on the Windows receiver PC.

Of course, I can just use a dongle on the downstairs Windows receiver VRS/dump1090, but I have to keep going upstairs to change the cable from the dishes switch to the colinear (only one cable going dowstairs unfortunately).

Still odd that the PC's VRS accepts the dump1090 feed from my pi, but doesn't allow a VRS map (as far as I can make out).

I haven’t come across that before, having to stop one so I can view the other.

It could be a clash of ports.

I have three feeder programs running and dump 1090 and able to access the web ports of both.

Perhaps a reflash of the os, and install the feeders again PiAware - dump1090 ADS-B integration with FlightAware ✈ FlightAware

That’s what I did, mine is a pi 3 you can also download img files from that site for the Pi.

Yes, that looks like a possible tryout, I'll do a bit of research on that. Cheers.

Yippee! Got it Chris.

Should've gone to Map - Menu - Receiver -PI24.

After several hours of head scratching Chris & myself have managed to share data (one way so far!)

So I can now see Chris's data :)
