Anyone know anything about the MP3 players from Hong Kong that are flooding eBay?

Ones like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5728236962 seem to be selling by the dozen at the moment.

Even with £12 postage a 512MB one can be bought for around £50.

Does anyone know anything about them, or better still does anyone have one? All the sellers seem to get good feedback for them.

It’s quite tempting, but I’d like to know a little more about them before buying one :)

iPod everytime.

The other is a USB stick with a tuner added for £62 for 200 songs.

What's the power supply?

If it's those tiny batteries that last two minutes and you have to take it all apart to replace.

On second thoughts - you might be able to use it to store images for your DreamBox on it!

Well I got one of these :D

iPod and other hard drive ones are out of my price range so I couldn’t consider them, also they are on the large side.

I’m quite pleased with it, takes one AAA battery and claims to last 8 hours, the unbranded free one that came with it has done about 5 hours and is still going, but the indicator says it is getting low.

My main criticism of it is that moving between directories takes time navigating around menus, there is no skip directory button like there is for tracks.

The range of equaliser settings is actually quite good, and it’s needed for lower bitrate tracks. I’ve read that you can edit the equaliser settings by modifying a file when it’s connected to a PC, but I haven’t tried that.

Currys are selling a unit that seems to be the same for £100 on ‘special offer’

Not as many features as an iriver or something like that, but it does what I want and I’m happy with it. :)

Hi Gameboy,

I'm new to this forum thing and I'm trying to get info on the new Sony HD3
that's supposed to be coming out this week. You seem to know your mp3
players - have you heard abot this new Sony model ? How will it compare to
the famous/ infamous ipod ?
Cheers - Boris B.

:) I just checked out the link you provided and this model does look good.
But I think I will still wait for the new Sony HD3 comes out before I
make a final decision. Its supposed to be quite light (around 1 3 0 g)
although I ’m not sure if the hard disk is quite as big as the Creat ive
one.

Cheers -

I bough an Iriver HP-40 40gb mp3 player. It holds 20,000 songs and will also hold pictures and computer data. Ok it did cost £240.00 but you do get a lot for your money. And if anyone wants to make me a serious offer ......
