Yes, I know.....Stupid idea and why would you? But seriously, does the TH recognise that a cam is plugged in and try to use it like a stand alone receiver, or is it dependant on something in the driver to make it function. When I first got the TH whenever I plugged in a CAM (X or MR) I got a weak signal message

TIA

The Twinhan dont care about the softcam, its the DVB program that uses that and all settings for that are in the DVB program menus ,the DVB card is just to handle the stream and the signals. Set up your DVB program with the necessary plugins and it will work.

Hi Peter,

over the weekend I installed a TwinHan VisionDTV SAT-PCI+CI in my PC.
The sat scan and FTA are working fine. Only the signal reception and quality percentages TwinhanDTV shows, show how relative those figures are. On my Kaon STB, it's typically 75-85%, while on the Twinhan it's 30-40%. Maybe they don't take into account that dB is logaritmic.

Anyway, next step was to test a CAM. I have a Matrix Reborn with a subscription card that is working fine on my STB. But when I use it in the Twinhan, it seems to detect it, accourding to Configuration/CI, but there it always gives an error messages regarding the communication as well.

:-P

Didn't have time to investigate further, but was intending to try with ProgDVB anyway to see which software I like most.

Have not found the time to try out MrT firmmware yet iso MRB, but am not expecting that much improvement with that. Don't find it too much as an issue for now, since S2emu works fine with ProgDVB.

FYI: I found this list from a couple of sources. As you might have read here and there (for me that was after getting my MR:cool: Dragon is better.

Thanks for the post. As an aside, the TH does work great with s2... but I would like to use it with a pvr app which doesn't support softcam.

Ok, do you need to have a CAM hardware to get encrypted sat .. Can't you just have a software that runs in the background or something?

I made a couple of posts myself to old threads, so maybe it would help if there is some sort of a visual indication about the thread original date.
For example a non-sticky thread initiated 6-12 months and above would have a different background and text colour?

That would be difficult to do and would not really be of any value to someone who is new to the forum, as they would not know the what difference in colours signified. The date at the top of the thread and on each of the individual posts should really be a sufficient indication of post/thread age.
