Not terribly interesting this one but its something else to play with when things are quiet on the weather satellite front, or Meteor M2 is blatting NOAA 18 again.....)

The software you need is "AFSK1200 Decoder". Dead easy to set up this one - just set the input to the virtual cable you are using

Im using SUWS Farnham websdr, on a frequency of 144.8MHz and I get this sort of thing:

The ISS transmits APRS on 144.825 as well which might be a bit more interesting - when its in range! :D

We use APRS in our local RAYNET group as well. It's handy for keeping track of, say, where the tail end runner is in a race. We also use it to know exactly where our control points are situated. It's not always where they should be!

I've done APRS through the ISS as a repeater, saw my self on the BIG map......It was fun at the time, used my 2 metre mobile as the APRS source, could see me drive all over when the gas was cheaper.

First success getting APRS off the ISS. Signal quality not great as its the wxsat turnstile antenna with no amp on it, but I managed 2 decodes Freq is 145.825MHz

Try using a 2 meter omni antenna, when the ISS is at a low elevation (5 to 50 degrees) it will work wonders, you can also get some nice 2 meter amps with built in pre-amps, this helps a bunch.

In the old days I used a Comet GP-9 for the antenna, a Yaesu FT-5100 2 meter mobile transceiver, a Mirage B-2518 power amp with pre-amp, and a MFJ 1278B Multi-Mode data controller, all this hooked into a PC, (Laptop when mobile) this was way before any software was available to use the sound card on the PC, so you had to use the Terminal software that came with windows 95/98.

It was a bit bulky but worked out in the mobile, the PC/laptop had to have an RS-232 port on it and the laptop needed a mobile power adapter, the other stuff ran on 12 VDC.

Now all you need is the RDS radio and the software, where and what brand of AFSK decoding software are you using? Just saw it at the top of the thread, sorry my fault
