Will I need an actual Cam or will the Softcam handle things ?

Also whats the quality like, thought I read somewhere that the quality was poor ?

Cheers

Got my official card, but all I get is can't be de-scrambled, using Newcamd 5.28. Any ideas?

Cheers

You need to be running the corresponding NewcamD cardserver and possibly have edited your cardserver config file. Read my NewcamD upgrade guide for more details.

Could someone just check to see Iqraa TV is working (on same TP as the ART channels, 13e) as I am trying this, due to it being listed as FTA, but not getting a picture, so the problem with the signal qaulity of 58-59% may be the problem?

Cheers

IQRAA - ARABESQUE - 13E 12015MHz 27.5Msps H working fine here - picture and sound. 50% sig on SS2, not that that means much. That's a very watchable signal for me. I can watch glitch free down to about 25%.

Right, I think it is definatley accepting the card, cos although I still can't see a picture and get the message can't be descrambled (usually get this with the Softcam/Keys setup as well), if I leave it on say ART 1, I can hear a bit of audio and also the a little bit of the picture comes through (broke up of course).

Currently sitting at around 58-59% signal (think the DB must refuse to do anything under 65%), I can only hope that my LNB turns up and then that I can fit it ok and hope thats will solve the problem.

Really wanted to get it done for tomorrow evening.

Is there anything else I can try to get that little bit more signal through, like altering some settings in the tuning parameters?

Cheers

first of all..the card goes in with chip down.

yes amte the signal is weaker on the art channels.
59% signal will not get it for me either, must be 65% before it is stable.

I am in newcastle using 60cm mesh dish, working fine

Yes, 65% seems to be the threshold on the DB. Only dish positioning will achieve any better result (other than your LNB upgrade, a bigger dish or maybe better cable with less joins etc.).

Be very interested to see what difference your Invacom makes. I wouldn't bank on it being enough but I guess you'll find out soon enough.

What did you want to watch tonight?

The match is on TPS Star with a stonking signal and top quality picture (but no English audio).

That's where I'll be at 20:00. :)

Hey, it was the LNB, now pulling a stable 76%, no BER errors :D

My match is on ART Sport 1 ;)

BTW, in a state of desperation, I also ordered a new Triax 90cm Dish as well, do you think that it would be more beneficial to use this, to replace the current 80cm Unbranded one I have?

Cheers

It'll almost certainly give you a bit, but nothing like the Invacom.

I'm really pleased for you, and I'm seriously impressed with your LNB upgrade figures.

The Invacom is a serious piece of kit and no mistake. :)

Cheers m8 :)

Now all I need to do is decide which image to go forward with, really like the look of DBF Revo, but just can't manage to install both Newcad/Scam plus keys for each, which is a shame.

On the LNB front, found the further I seated it towards the dish, the better signal I got.

Now do I install my new dish myself :-HB or get the installer again?

Cheers

I think you know what our answer to that is going to be... You just want to make me say it don't you?

Am I correct in thinking, that to perform this operation would require me to purchase a Sat Meter?

No, but for a tenner or so you'd be well advised to get one IMHO.

If you're on a tight budget and don't anticipate using it more than a few times then you can get away with having an assistant and maybe a couple of mobile phones to relay on-screen signal readings from the DB's 'satfind' menu.

I thought I would only use my meter once, but it's paid for itself many times over.
