Dear All,

I am trying to get the Egyptian Channel ESC which according to their web site on Eutelsat 16E W2 (11474 V, 11842 H, and 11747 V) .. and according to Eutelsat web page on 11471 V !!!

Anyway I get nothing on any of these freq. However I can get some channels from the Astra on 19.2 E

Any ideas why I can get Astra on 19.2 E and not Eutelsat 16E, is Eutelsat signal
is weaker?

Kind Regards,

Fady

It really depends on where you are and what dish size you are using.

You can check out the channel footprints here ...

Eutelsat 16

Astra 19.2

Astra have some of the most powerful satellites for central Europe.

I originally thought that it might be because of an obstruction from the Garden fence as I have the dish on a stick in the Garden, however I have moved the dish to about 2 meters distance which should allow the lowest point to been seen from the satellite line of site.

PS. my dish is about 79cmx67cm and I am located at 52.02 lat & -0.69 lon

I now think that it might be that my LNB (which is quite old - Maspro SCE975) has a problem... Is it possible??

Many thanks,

Fady

My Satellite Setup
a variety of lnb's (5), dishes (2), diseqc motors (3) and receivers (4).

Hi Fady
I'm at 52N and 1E and pick up that channel without any problems, mind you I am running a 1.25m dish. You should have no problems picking up ESC with your size dish as most of the UK is in the 50dBw contour for that frequency.
Looking through FlySat/King of Sat/ LyngSat/ TrackSAt, I cannot find any other frequency for ESC other than 11471/11474V on the bird at 16east.
You do not have to worry about a difference of 3MHz in 11+GHz ie 11471 and 11474 it will make no difference.
Check your line of sight and your LNB, a new universal LNB costs from £10 up.
