In Warsaw a 2.7 metre dish is reported to be just big enough to get Astra 2D most of the time. Really, a 3 metre dish is needed.

So I'd guess that you will need a 3 metre dish (minimum) and of course a suitable LNB and receiver.

There is a company in south east Poland that makes big dishes. I read about it somewhere.

Suppose you mean MABO. They produce big dishes. A friend of mine from Bulgaria also told me about Valvecs which are for professional use.
Here is their link: http://www.valvecs.com/en/manifacturing.htm

Well if a 2.7m is needed in Warsaw I guess the antenna must be much bigger on the Romanian border as it is more far out of the 2D footprint than Warsaw. It is a possibility that it is not possible.

When the EIRP is below a certain level it wont help even with a monster dish.

Maybe this one will let you hope:

Just read at www.satleo.gr (sorry only in greek)
that in Kastoria (40.6N/21.1E) the horizontal Astra 2D-Frequencies were receivable from noon til night. The dish is a 2.40m with C+KU-Feed so effectively the diameter is much smaller. The vertical frequency wasn't received at all.
Since this is far Out-Of-Footprint it can be much more difficult moving some km away.

I live in Cyprus and get all the BBC + ITV CH4 etc on a 2.4mtr dish, Panasonic 30 and quad Invacom 0.3 LNB. Slight break up between 9-10pm but still watchable (Cyprus time). Severe break up 2-3am, but who cares at that time!

Been thinking about this for a long time, but it seems obvious that you have a sideslobe there.
Reports from central Europe (if there are any) show severe struggling with 2,7-3 m dishes. Cyprus is a good 2000 km further away from the official footprint than say Warsaw or Budapest and yet you receive.
Must be because of the British soldiers you have there.
(and who seem to have a drinking problem and terrorize locals as would seem from a recent documentary on Ch4)
