Hi

What I don't understand is the 2G Euro beam. The 2F AND 2E Eurobeams are similar, but the 2G Eurobeam is totally different. It is the only (european) beam on 2E/2F/2G which isn't centered on the UK.

Maybe 2E/2F are meant to be permanently placed at 28,2E, whilst 2G will be available to move to provide backup at other locations, should the need arise.

Or it may have something to do with the data transponders; I've seen claims that 11464H AND 11479V are on the 1N PE2 beam. The only beam on the new satellites that comes close to that kind of coverage is the 2G Eurobeam.

Speculation, speculation...

Regards,
Bengt

I've always suspected that 2G will be the new "2C" which is used as a temporary satellite at various locations when needed.

The 2G Euro beam doesn't look like it'll be of use in the northern and western parts of the UK and Ireland, which was one of the selling points of the new 2F and 2E satellites (zone 1 dishes for the whole UK).

Or it may have something to do with the data transponders; I've seen claims that 11464H AND 11479V are on the 1N PE2 beam. The only beam on the new satellites that comes close to that kind of coverage is the 2G Eurobeam.

Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Would love to know what those data transponders actually are...

Still much better 2f 10964 (ch5) here. A little larger dish\some adjustments I'd get stable 24\24 reception. Previously signal went to zero for long periods, now always stays above 30% and even seen it up to 70% for some periods of the day.

Something happened to 12522V, 12552V, 12611V and 12640V at least

This morning this happened on 12522V:

Crazyscan shows that the 4 vertical transponders have changed probably to one of the spot beams:

Do you see that as well ?

Edit:

The snr values are
12522: 7.7db
12552V: 12.0db
12611V: 11.1db
12640V: 7.7db

I would guess the first and the last one are on 2F spot, the others on 2E spot

On the other hand, the reduction of the SNR took almost a hour to complete.

Signal levels here in the UK look the same as they did a few months ago. If something would have switched beams I've have expected quality to vary a little at least but it is hard to tell here as they are all quite powerful. Are you sure it's not local interference or issues?

No, i'm not. What irritates me is that it's just those 4 transponders which have changed. all others in that band are normal.
I haven't read about a failure in a LNB which would have just a few transponders to fail. But who knows.

It's certainly odd. We need someone else outside the UK can check these levels... Anyone?

19.2 is not affected. So either it's the LNB or something is transmitting right into my dish at 28.2. Or something with 2F. In south germany this is not visible.

I will switch the LNB tomorrow morning.

Signals for those transponders are still very strong here so definitely not on a spot beam.

It was the LNB. It's weird that just a few frequencies fail and not the whole band.

If you think that's weird, I've got an LNB that is repeating a few transponders on nearby frequencies and blocking out the real transponders. Confused the hell out of me for a while.

What has changed to 2F orbit slot movement, as the center of box data does not anymore show two time periods for day, but only very long period (from start to stop) ? Is it still moving as 8 ?
