The easy channels are the ones higher than 11200 MHz, mostly subscription or rubbish.

And BTW, before this switch 11023H was a lot stronger than the band D transponders, so if they go down by the same amount bigger dishes will be needed.

i think this depends on the location. here, in the eastern edge of the beam, where i am, the threshold is lower in the 10.7-10.95 range, anything higher is much harder to receive.

and also, 11023H was the weakest tp here by a mile, even before the move to 2F.

DVB-S2 8PSK 2/3 = 6.6dB threshold (test signal)
DVB-S QPSK 5/6 = 6.5dB threshold (FTA SD channels, BBC2 England, for example)
DVB-S2 QPSK 8/9 = 6.2dB threshold (ITV HD)

thats different for me...for example:
10847V bbc hd, DVB-S2, 23000, 2/3, 8PSK - best reception, 24 hours a day, even in light rain.
10936V, itv hd, DVB-S2, 23000, 8/9, QPSK - worse than bbc hd, i lose it in bad weather
10994H, channel 5, DVB-S, 22000, 5/6, - worst out of the 3, pixelation at night, often lose it completely

But you also have to factor in local variations in signal levels too. Each transponder may be received at a slightly different power level.

11023H coming in right now (1631 CET) at 80% strength/50% quality. Have never seen 2F outside the 1140am-1230pm time-window previously. 50% is borderline quality, but it's stable at the moment.

My comments were based on the modulation of the carrier and the SNR needed, nothing to do with the signal level in any particular location.

Well this is so exciting - but I really fear there may be something wrong as there have been no more test transmissions other then on 11023 - I suppose we will know after first week in Dec as people are claiming the move will be by then. Everone is speculating but none of us know anything for sure and its all a bit frustrating - lke wating for Christmas as a kid. At least we now have from this and other sites a good idea of where the sat will be receivable and on that basis some people are already buying new dises - a bit early in my opinion as we really need to see the final picture once she properly lights up which may give a slightly different reaults to those we are seeing now.

Hi All, is there anything being transmitted on this transponder form WAB? cos if there is I aint getting anything other than the Eurobird channels here in Villaverde. Also getting a pulsing signal on 11023, it's cyclical (is that a word?) I'm guessing it's airport radar in Arrecife, line of sight just across the water from here.

pulling out !!

No Change here in SW Portugal overnight that I've seen.

11023 steady here (constant signal) so must be some form of external interference.

Do you have access (beg borrow steal) to a signal/spectrum analyser to
"see what's going on" on 11023 ?.

I have a 'Marco Polo' (guess that name sums it up pretty well :) ) sat meter (SM-05) that I bought some time ago. Not sure what I can do with this as I'm no techie and got it solely to help me align my dish - it beeps !!!.

i think that the signal from E28A on 12.522 is much to powerful on the islands to let 12.522 from 2F WAB to get a look in
the fear is if they uses the´d´ frequency's for UK and WAB at same time as WAB is closer ....

No,unfortunately that won't help

Seeing the Spectrum live on a screen of 11023 would take a lot of the guesswork out as to
what's actually happening with the signal in your part of the world.

The ideal solution - send 2F off to 19.2 to use its very narow beam on the Canaries (ideal!) and leave 1n at 28.2E (perfect!).

No. Never have. Just the signal 80%S 60%Q on the Humax manual search screen. The search function repeatedly say's "no channels found" (as per my earlier post/photo in previous thread).

If anyone has an analyser and wants to come here, they are more than welcome.
