Parked in a car park today ..... pay and display. Bought a 3 hour ticket for £3.50 and put it (as usual) on the bulk head in front of the windscreen. Came back well inside time and got a penalty charge stuck to the windscreen, says 'failure to display correct ticket'. Couldn't find the parking ticket I purchased anywhere inside the car.

Bloody mystery. Anyway £40 to pay inside 14 days ....otherwise £80 'O'-red

Had a similar situation Jimbo, put a residents temporary permit on the dash, closed the door and the draft must have caught it, as I had the same thing waiting on the windscreen and the ticket sitting on the floor. :)

An expensive gust though.

Allegedly, you can dispute the validity of the fine by claiming either

1) an 'incorrectly displayed' claim is down to the dispenser manufacturer not supplying adhesive tickets, or

2) the ticket did not include a tear off section which acts as a receipt which is used for tax purposes by a business using the parking bay.

Both are ultimately the responsibility of the council in determining the favoured type of meter (always down to tender backhanders).

I prefer the Paul Newman method of collecting funds from these meters ;)

I prefer the Liam Gallagher method of telling to stick it their......

Anyway, was there a CCTV camera filiming the car park? Surely if you had gone to the machine, got the ticket, and then went to put it in the car, it would have been picked up if there were CCTV. Just a thought.

Good point salty. As of now I've sent an 'informal appeal', so await the outcome of that.

Ouch!!! Must have been an uncomfortable journey home!!!

Seriously though, people will steal anything these days, I remember when I had a Citroen BX with a duff cam belt, and I left an old (and I mean OLD!!!) AM radio on the passenger seat after trying it out in the car (didn't work, was in a damp & rusty 2CV for a looooong time!!!), the next morning, it was gone... :(

Of course, the car was in a pretty bad shape anyway, the boot latch was broken, so that was useless, the driver's door was hanging on by the remains of a weld, the Cam belt was snapped, the battery was nearly dead, the key was snapped, but it was free though!!! :D

Had a coule of BX16valvers, then one converted to diesel with a 1.9 Xantia TD engine, and last was a 1.7 estate. Cheap purchase (£50 with spares) and ran for the year without any real hassles. Sold it in December for £53, and the bloke came and took it back to Oldham, (so its now local to you).

I was offered a 16Valve BX with dodgy rear axles (Wonky Wheel Syndrome) with my BX from the same guy, but it was £50 more than my bank balance (which at the time was £0.00p)... :D

Plus I didn't and still don't have the equipment to do an engine transplant... :D

I was in Oldham last friday, boring looking place it was... :-rofl2

Seems tome that you guys in britan get charged for everything car related. Over here you park on zebra crossings, pull over and put the hazards on to talk on a mobile.I saw a trucker on the motorway the other day with a ciggarret in one hand and a phone in the other. Yes, spain has the most road related deaths in Europe, but it also has the lowest car tax!
