Can it be true, or is my 'weather station' deceiving me?

08.55 today, and I'm reading over 1050 mbar (Cambridge). (BBC officially at 08.00 Marshall's Airport across the road, 1042)

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Beeb weather forecasting high pressure for the coming week, so your reading is probably somewhere near the truth.

Head's clear, usually is with high pressure stabilising. It's the sudden pressure changes that give me migraines, usually going from high to low.
Medical 'experts' have often dismissed such changes as having such effects on the body (vascular dilation etc.), but observing my own symptoms over extended periods of time, I'm convinced it does.

The other half claims it affects her to the point I must bring her breakfast in bed, do the washing up, clean house etc. so there is definitely a cause and effect going on.

As usual where there is money to be made, there is snake oil.

Much research needed. My GP(s) - they change at my surgery much like the weather, I never know who I'm going to see - have no opinion on the subject or are borderline dismissive when I bring it up.

Microclimate? (the 'my back garden' effect, as with recording the highest UK temperature last July :-ohmy )

Barometers are affected by a number of different causes , moreso outdoor (armature temperature / corrosion / friction in bearings / freezing of humidity inside), hence the 'tapping' to stabilise the reading. Accuracy is refined here by running at least three in different rooms.

Two of them have climbed to almost 30.8 in the past 40 minutes btw.

OK, I'm using my iPhone Barometer app now. 1044.79 and rising if that's more believable.

Just been watching the Country File forecast and they say that pressure might rise to 1050mb tonight, a level that's not been seen since 1957.

The barometer in the kitchen hit a new high just before midnight. 31.4 (1057), the other two were slightly lower.

Outside is crisp and dry today, no hint of the mist/fog reported elsewhere.

I wonder if this is the reason for the latest weather patterns, our planet appears to have grown in size and presumably mass.

Whilst the local weather reports aren't showing much, all the signs here (barometers/toothpaste/next doors cat) point to a bloody cold couple of days, with tonights being particularly nasty.

This weekend could also be trouble for those travelling on the roads or to other planets.
