Sounds like someone's wishful thinking to me, more chance of being bitten by a daffodil. ;)

Good idea, totally fails to take into account of the transmission characteristics of the satellites. Whats happens for a Scandanavian expat who lives in south Spain? The Scandy birds were never designed to be easily available outside the far north (with one or two exceptions on Sirius 2 footprints)

There was some talk of (encrypted) re-transmissions via another bird (NSS6 22W was mentioned). This was a private thing, no way linked to the UK broadcasters, although my feeling was its wishful thinking.

The Canaries are not classed as part of the EU so the law does not apply to you.

We applied to the DTI for a video licence to broadcast video stream
and this will be granted on the 11/4/2006.
test transitions will start around the 10th of may 2006 and service should be up and running by the 15th may 2006.

we will also offer the service to the Falkland islands, The BBC will stop transmitting there feed to the island and have agreed for us to broadcast the service.

For those who have been sceptical. you are now freely able to call the DTI or BBC to confirm or deny this. Or you can wait until the 10th may 2006 when test transmissions will start.

All full press release will be made

Could you include BBC Radios 1, 3, 6 Music, BBC 7, 1xtra,.... as part of your pan-european package in the future? There's a substantial interest in those among the european expats. It shouldn't be hard given that the transmissions will be encrypted.

Hi Ukraine com.

Interesting to read about the BBC stopping their feed to the Falklands. I didn't know they gave a feed of BBC TV. My company supplys BFBS TV and radio, they never mentioned about the BBC being avaliable O-Ha Most of the troops in Germany have Sky TV.
