It is nice all new recievers are user-friendly, but BBC/itv are not so user-friendly to the rest of the world.

It is so nice with BBC, Itv, Itv2 etc. when you live in the U.K. BUT for me outside, it is hard to get any english channels FTA, BBC World and Sky News are the ones that I have. Sky doesn't allow users outside Great Britain, and BBC Prime on Hotbird is EXPENSIVE, It is broadcasted in Viaccess1 for now, but may change any time for a better encryption. Itv2 was FTA for some days, now I can't tune it in any more? (are there new PIDs?).

Oh!, and I forgot, I've got "God Channel" FTA as well, any recomendations on what is possible to get outside GB?

Sorry to interject into your conversation leonardwolk but you just touched a subject dear to my heart. ITV2 is still FTA on two channels on 28e on the same pids used for the past few weeks - see my post http://www.satellites.co.uk/php-bin/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2942 for details.

Despite this forum being, in my opinion, the most knowledgeable board on the satellite scene, no one can answer my questions as to why these two ITV2 channels can't be scanned in on a Nokia 9600s or can't be got at all on an Echostar 3000.

Wish I could help on that BB, but only having a Hyundai and my dish not being able to swing round that far, I can't check it out unless I change cables and that won't answer your question even then.

@ Leonard, They are designed to be user unfriendly in anywhere but the UK, so I would guess that they are achieving their aim.

what sats do you have access too? There are loads of UK FTA channels on Astra2; there is a BBC-Prime in Betacryt on Astra3a; there are BBC-Worlds and Sky News on multiple sats.
Are you specifically looking for UK broadcasts, or are you looking for English-language broadcasts? There are dozens of the latter receivable in Europe from sats ranging from 68.5e to 58w.

BB -
I'm going to check out the "FTA" TV2 myself. Last time you posted on it I couldn't due to problems with my dish, and then I forgot about it.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Thai TV has the news slots in English, as does CCTV-9, Dubai TV, DW and for some time the Iranian and PIK channels

For other programme content in English, 3SAT, TV4 and a few others

I do not know if you are using just the Sky box so I cannot comment whether you are able to put in the right symbol rates into it for the above channels

Has many have already confirmed there are many channels in Europe that are FTA and at you specific location there are some interesting channels dependent upon your equipment.

Which channels would you like to recieve?

I have access to everything ranging from 23.5E (Astra 3A) to anything western of 23.5E(my western sight is clear) recievable in europe(south sweden) by a 80cm dish, apparently my 1m dish was destroyed by those 40m/s winds 10 days ago. It fell down 4 stories.

All just because I forgot to watch the weatherforecast before I went to Germany for some holiday. So yesterday, when I returned home I found out that my temporary mount of tape and different straps holding a 2m long 50mm pipe on my balcony failed to hold back the winds.

Ehmm, I would like to recieve channels wich shows english language tv shows/films wahtever like BBC/Channel Four etc.

I've right now only got equipment to recieve FTA channels.

I've got these english FTA channels: Sky News, CNN, CNBC, God Channel, or to be simple all those on Astra19.2E, I have equipment to get Hotbird 13E as well, that would add BBC World, Fox News.

I want channels not only showing news, CNBC does show Jay Leno on weekends, but only news/economics during the week.

Take a look at PAS6R at 43.0 west in the link below for a starting point here you have the Fox channels that are pretty good for sports and news, also here you will find the EWTN channels
http://www.lyngsat.com/pas43.shtml

And also a take a look at Telstar 11 at 37.5 west were you have the USA based CNN etc
http://www.lyngsat.com/t11.shtml

Lost of English feeds also can be found on
http://www.lyngsat.com/nss7.shtml

Prima can be found here at 18.0 west on Intelsat 901 and generally with a lot of English programming
http://www.lyngsat.com/i901.shtml

On 15.0 west you can find Dubai sports here again there is English programming
http://www.lyngsat.com/t12.shtml

There are also quite a few others if you wish take a look at the Lyngsat site.

Fox on 43.0 West has generally a lot of US programming but there is european programming as well .

It is currently FTA.

The News service from memory follows UT timing, the sports channels follow I believe also UT timing

uh::
@ BB,

I did an autoscan on Strong 4375, and got the same result as you, I had to manually input the details.Doing an autoscan again wipe off the manual details I input which is a bit strange.

Regards
