Here are all the currently active BBC Olympic feeds details. Quite a few are on the wide beams for our European friends :)

standard def:
10921H 22000 5/6 - Astra 1N uk beam
11469H 27500 2/3 - Eutelsat 28A European beam

high def: (all DVB-S2 QPSK)
12129V 29500 3/4 - Astra 2A south beam
12402V 29500 3/4 - Astra 2B north beam
12422H 29500 3/4 - Astra 2A south beam
12441V 29500 3/4 - Astra 2B south beam

Note - some of the frequency list sites currently have the BBC HD channels down as fec 8/9. This is incorrect - they are 3/4.

Sky have actually said the channels will be added to Sky guide sometime on Monday - from sky channel 450 upwards.

Freesat say

"All freesat customers will get the 24 live Olympic channels. Just press the red Button, or go to the Olympic genre in the freesat EPG starting at Channel 150. The 24 live channels will be available from 25th July until 12th August, right through the Games. As some events finish, not every BBC Olympic channel will be broadcasting all the time so check the BBC Red Button for what's on when."

with no clear indication as to when exactly they will appear on Freesat, but sometime 23rd or 24th would be good, since it starts on the 25th (days before the opening ceremony!)

A bit off topic but I stupidly thought the Olympic coverage would be provided by the BBC. However, following the criticism of the cycle race coverage, I've found out it's provided by OBS, a dedicated Olympic broadcast service. (A bit like F1, which originates via Bernie Ecclestone and is picked up by individual countries.) Not a moan, just a surprising fact.

Like you Pete I initially thought the BBC, as official Broadcaster of the Olympics were supplying the coverage but following the balls up with the cycling there were lots of tweets from BBC people saying they were only taking the feed from OBS. Incidentally OBS blamed the public for too much Tweeting and blocked the mobile network which prevented the timing data from getting back to race control (it's either BS or piss poor planning by OBS if that's true). Why they didn't just sub contract it to TV Sport France who have a bit of experience of covering the odd bike race I do not know.

I presume Official Broadcaster just means they get first dibs on post competition interviews and best spot for the telly studio.
