:) Hi Chaps!

I want to buy an analogue receiver to pick up the last few remaining French analogue channels and was thinking of buying a PACE MSS300. Is this anygood or have you better suggestions?
Also can I put a cam into this Pace model and/or is it working only with smart cards.
Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions :-thumb1

My fave was the Pace 508ip, great receiver. If you look on ebay, there are still a few knocking around.;)

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Most pace boxes are the bees knees in my opinion, but there's also that Analogue/Digital hybrid reciever (Echostar I think) that could be useful...

I personally love my MSS300, well, I love my second one, the first one burnt out for some reason, and my 1000I was just annoying (I for Intergrated decoder, the IP is a Decoder & 36v Positioner), so I stuck to my 300... :D

90cm Dish. Dual Lemon LNB for 13E/19E. Twin Output Lemon LNB for 28.8E.
Samsung 9500 with 'alternative' firmware.
Couple of DigiBoxes. Amateur Radio station. Going Bald with a patient wife!
My Location
Stoke on Trent, UK.
Loved the Nokia SAT1700 Mk2 receivers myself and my remaining two were donated to my ex employers (University) for their language department and I believe they are still working well.

The analogue receiver I had in service was a MSS500 but that eventually just acted as a positioner controller.

Now have a MSS300 that I got at the weekend from a 'car boot sale' for £2 and also a Maspro receiver that is modified for 1300Mhz Amateur TV reception only now as it has no LNB power enabled.

Theres no need for CAMS in analogue receivers - All but one of the remaining channels are totally free to air (Canal+ France still scrambles in the evening but afaik cards arent available for it now)

Interesting,
I have a maspro aswel, an ST9. Is yours the same as the one on my site: http://www.satellitestuff.bravehost.com/equipment.html (about half way down the page) ?

What can you pick up when you say amateur tv reception? People broacasting their own tv channels?

Cheers

Of course, no site which talks about satellite tv would be complete without a mention of you and your sites :D

No - that's far too modern - this was simply up and down buttons - and that was it. Not even a remote control and a card slot wasn't even thought about then!

What can you pick up when you say amateur tv reception? People broacasting their own tv channels?

Amateur Televison - transmitted by Radio Amateurs on 1.3Ghz - you can easily modify an old analogue satellite receiver for this. Do a search on the WWW for more info.

Best ever receiver for DX:ing was the Echostar SR-50 with a manual knob for changing frequency, it had the best threshold of all tuners out there and became the standard among enthusiasts.
