I,m looking to buy a new diseqc motor for another dish i have.
I had the tm2300 motor before, but what i hated was that after only a few months the elevatin plate on the motor would start to rust, and over time got worse (hate rust)

Are there any other diseq motors that the elevation plate does not rust, and also are good.

The El bracket always rusts over time. You could try a Stab motor; can't say I've seen them rust away.

I agree with SM - hard to avoid: So the other approach might be to prevent ie Add some form of additional coating (I use Kurust, but it turns a purplish-black colour and that might not please you!)

However, I suspect that even if untreated, the bracket will outlast the lifetime of the motor.

I guess you could always give it a coating of galvanising spray after fitting, should improve the appearance medium term.

It's a STAB or a rebadged one as stated these are the only ones i know that show no signs of rust even after many years but then again there price tag is double that of any other motor

That bracket is impeccable.

Will bear it in mind next time I have a need to change.

The Stab motors are S-L-O-W compared to current offerings. Also, it tends to suffer from backlash.

never had any problems with it C/J and it must be over 6 years old now looking at when I joined here,
ive just timed it from 57e to 61.5w it took 56 seconds, not sure how quick other motors go but I don't think its that bad :-).

It must be over 6 years old now, its easier than most to set up the dish is fixed to the motor so it could only move on the pole, others can move on the pole and motor as you will know.

I shall bear that in mind also!

The biggest backlash round here is when SWMBO realises I'm "playing Satellites" again.

Thats good the way it bolts straight onto the dish, but im gonna be using a gibertini, so ill have to go for a model like this, hopefully its the same.

My Clarke Tech motor has been up just over three years and shows no sign of rust at all. Mind you I do live in an area with very low pollution, though with more than it's fair share of rain.

stab h to h 100 or 120, best diseqc motors by far imo and have a 3 year warrenty. the 120 is slightly slower than the 100. if your using a 1m gibby then go for the 100. ive used both and can fault them. you will notice the difference after 5 years when a tm/darkmotor is a bag of rust and the stab is still like new. the only downside to a stab motor is it doesnt have control buttons on the underside like a tm 2300/2600/superjack or darkmotor has.

others can move on the pole and motor as you will know.

the cure for that is to drill through the backplate and pole and put a small bolt through and it will never move on the pole again

I was gonna get a gibertini, I heard that the 1.2m gibertini is too heavy for the stab 120, but i had a 1m gibertini and it was really light been alliminium, surely the 1.2 gibertini cant be that much heavier than the 1m gibertini.

you would have to drill the motor arm as well then, what I was saying on my motor the dish is fixed to the motor so it can only move on the pole, as petes motor it can move on motor and pole,

but thanks for the tip :-).

The 1.2m Gibertini is pretty heavy, a lot of the weight is in the bracket, certainly wouldn't put one on a DiSEqC motor.
