My Satellite Setup
2.4m dish, Pace 2600, 0.5dB universal quad Invacom LNB (Limassol)
4.2m dish Pace 2600 0.3dB universal quad invacom LNB. (Larnaca)
Slingbox HD.
My Location
Cyprus Limassol
To be fair the first installer told me it was a 2.4m and I would not receive BBC or ITV, the second installer said that it is a 2.4 x 2.7 so dont want to discredit anyone just yet:) I paid £1,200CYP for the installation of this dish excluding the digibox.

It is only recently that I have been able to get the BBC and ITV after I changed my Pace 2200 for a Pace 2600. The dish with the 0.5db Invacom LNB and the Pace 2200 only managed a flicker of a signal but that totally went when my dish moved after a night of strong winds. Then it was "no satellite signal is being recieved"

Nonethelss, last night I was getting ITV (tyne tees) perfectly at about 11:30pm no break up at all, BBC was watchable but was breaking up. Right now (1pm) BBC is there but not watchable and ITV is breaking up but watchable)

Regarding the movie channels the only time I had issues with 1,2 and 3 is when the weather was terribly bad during some of the heavier showers other than that they are there 24 hours per day. To be honest all teh channles had some issues when the weather was that bad.

The issue for me is that if I get as good a quality 2.7m dish as the Supral (although more expensive) it would probably be better than an inferior make and model 3m dish, no?

I get my camera back today so I will post some photos for this evening.

Thanks for all the replies

If your getting long periods of ITV now with your present setup then I would hazard a guess that you've got a great chance of almost 24hrs ITV and long periods of BBC with the correct LNB setup. The one I did two weeks ago went from intermittent 2D signal on my Lacuna meter up to 35% signal strength AND Picture quality as soon as I swapped the LNBs. That one was fitted with a 0.6 cambridge single LNB though. I remind you - the invacom universal is completely incorrect for this dish.

Cheers

There is no question regarding the LNB, infact I had alreay ordered one but I am waiting for the dealer to come and install it. If it takes much longer I may jusy ask one of your guys to do it as I have been waitng over a month now, although to be honest I did cancel the original appointment when his technician was available.

Who is the man to speak to for Limassol should the need arise?
Thanks guys

Sounds to me that it may be a 2.7m Supral dish. If you look round the back of it does it have a strengthener round with holes in it? Post a picture if you like (of the dish that is

)

Attached are some pictures excuse the dodgy angles but believe me I was hanging off the edge about 4-5 storeys up. I believe its a Supral having seen some manufacturers picture, but I will let those in the know confirm.
Thanks

From the pictures it is now obvious what a large difference for the better the correct LNB is going to make.

You should also order a ChannelMaster offset feedhorn, under no circumstances use the Invacom adjustable- they are for prime focus- and an Invacom C120 Quad.

Yes thats a Supral you got there, good dish, never needs servicing.Shouldn't move in the wind though. You are geting good results with that LNB,surprising.
I have in stock the quad C120 and chapparal feed horn and also the other shiny one.I wouldn't mind having a crack,at least to tidy up your spaghetti, what a mess!Is that the kanika complex behind you? I know where you are.

Hi Simon

How much is the LNB and the feedhorn?

Is the chapparal a good feedhorn for the Supral?

When can we get together?

Thanks

I have no idea about reception in that part of town (I'm just a hobbiest) Simon etc will know more. But in Ypsonis I modified a similar dish and now they clear BBC til 6 or 7pm and loads more ITV....admittedly I think they will fair better as they are further west, but its hopefully still progress for you

There are issues with the mounting of this modified setup ie standard LNB is 40mm replacement is 27mm. If you need help then let me know.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Nick

Hi Guys

I have just spoken with FutureSat and they have a quad Invacom 0.3dB LNB in stock and he can order the feedhorn for use with my Supral 2.4mx2.7m dish but as Nick suggests there are issues with the measurments. However, FutureSat also has in stock the adapter that will allow the 27mm feedhorn tube to marry up to the 40mm lnb clamp.

What do you guys think of this solution.

Simon has mentioned the chaparal feedhorn and I have read good reports of the channelmaster with the C120 LNB.

Im really not sure which way to go, your help will be most appreciated.
