Well, as I said earlier, not only could you fit the motor first (As you'd already realised), you could separate the dish and its backplate too.

Not only does that make the dish less cumbersome, but it will be easier to fit the dish bracket to the motor stub against the datum line and to ensure it doesn't go out of true as you tighten the clamp bolts.

Assuming the dish is going above the two Ks, then sling some polyprop over the upper T and haul the dish up that far. Then you've just got the final few feet to cope with plus a juggling act trying to screw the dish plate onto the backplate.

Unless, of course, you know someone with a MEWP?

If that wall truly is more or less South facing, it shouldn't matter exactly where on the pole you fit the dish/motor.

So, you could fit the motor in the gap between the two pairs of brackets and still get the desired arc.

Don't forget, as said in the other Thread, the motor itself provides extra stand-off.

Set USALS up by correctly entering your Lat and Long.

Then select Thor.

Now swing the entire motor and dish around the pole until you lock onto Thor.

Yes, use your meter for tweaking.

Basically, it's similar to aligning a fixed dish except Azimuth adjustment is by rotating the whole assembly around the pole, but Elevation adjustment is by dish bracket only.

This assumes that you have correctly set the motor bracket to your Latitude and that you have correctly mounted the dish bracket against the datum point on the motor stub, and that the pole is perfectly plumb.

All the details are to be found in tutorials somewhere on the Forum and in your Motor's Instruction leaflet (Use the Quick Method)

I shall merge this Thread with one of your other recent ones, or it will get confusing.

Edit: Done. Chris, who posts next, will now easily be able to see what has gone before.

You would normally set the dish face, and not the bracket at the back. As this can be way out.

But you will need to give us some more information, like the make of dish, the offset angle.

Your location, the sat you are trying to aim at, is it fixed or is it motorised?

Once we know some of this we can help you.

A starting point would generally be around 25 deg, but qv earlier advice, you will need to adjust it for best results once you've actually found Thor.
