I originally fitted a IBU Single, which seems to be working fine but needed another output.
So ordered a IBU Twin, which has just arrived and now I'm wondering should have I got a Quad!

I'm sure a lot of you have tested LNB's, wondering what Twin and Quad you have settled for and what opinions you have.

Debating putting this Twin up as I might be able to get something better.

The twin IBU has a slightly lower signal when I compared it to the single IBU not much but it was enough for me as I lost some weak feed signals,
I will probably fit the twin to the new (yet to be ordered) Gibertini 120cm this spring.

Single IBU...I didn't feel there was enough advantage with the Opticum on certain frequencies to warrant changing over. Additionally there isn't as much range in the Opticum neck for fine adjustment as the IBU. Ideally you need an autochanger for differing LNB's...which I think someone on here did last year...

Yeah an autochanger would be amazing, I could have a go with C and Ka for a laugh then.
Single ITU atm, but I need to feed more than one device so I'm a bit stuck, not sure what to go for. I ordered the Twin (Which is the same price as the Quad) thinking I read they were better, but reading again I might have been wrong.

My Black Ultra Twin failed after only a year

It's the only LNB failure I've ever had.

I've read a lot of issues with Twins failing, this will go back before I use it i think!
What's the best quad?

I bought an Inverto Black Pro C120 Twin LNB, for my CM 120, and it's still working perfectly after 6 1/2 years, unlike the expensive, WF100 underground cable, which only lasted 5 1/2 years, before it cracked, in a number of places, due to the weather. .
The only problem I had, with the LNB, is that it's so small, and light, that boots wouldn't fit, so I had to use self amalgamating tape, which worked fine, but not easy to wrap.

I have the twin IBU on my dish atm, it was better than the Black Pro C120 quad/gibertini feed that I tried on my Gibby initially. I tried a Black Pro C120 twin too, and that was just a tad behind the IBU in performance.
I've had a couple of Inverto c120s fail over the years, never a non c120 failure....... so far.

Hi .. despite having had some Inverto l.n.b,s fail both c120 pro and black ultra ...
The black ultra twin is the best i,v used on my 1.8 channel master ... and would replace with the same if i had another failure as they are not expensive ....

on the smaller channel masters 1.0 and 1.2 metre the Opticum Quad is pretty much equal to the black ultras at most frequencies

regards .... :)

Seems there is a lot of praise for the IBU's, my Red label IBU Single is working really well.

Need to work out whether to go IBU Quad or IBU Twin.
Was just about to order the IBU Quad but saw a notification on here so came back to read it :)

Just checked and I had forgotten I tried an IBU quad on my gibby too, but it wasn't as good as the twin, in fact I think it may have been considerably worse tbh, but can't remember for sure.

I've just put the twin on there and now 7w is impossible to watch, it just keeps breaking up.

*EDIT*

Gone back and tweaked the LNB slightly and signal strength is a little higher over the Single, not sure on Quality though weather keeps changing!

Tempted to order the quad as well and try that, quite easy to swap over.

Some testing to be done this week.

I have in order... IBU Quad, IBU Twin, IBP Single, IBU Single (red letters on label)

I have some other random LNB's here but not going to bother messing with those on a big dish.
Going to order a 30-50cm dish soon for some portable stuff so will do some testing on that too.

I've an Inverto Black Ultra Quad on my motorised dish - can't say that I've felt it's been a weak performer in the 3+ years it has been running but I haven't really had much to compare it against. Supposedly the IBU single is the dogs bollix, the IBU quad not too far behind with the IBU twin lacking a bit. Worth saying "Your mileage may vary".

I can say so far the IBU Twin is performing better than the IBU Single which has the "Red lettering" don't have a newer IBU Single to try though.
Interested to put the IBU Quad up against the Twin now :)

The LNB that came in the packaging with the "red lettering" isn't an Inverto Black Ultra, but an Inverto Black Premium that sell at a cheaper price compared to the Ultras. I've a couple of them on my fixed dish multi-lnb set up alongside a few Inverto Eco LNBs, and they are perfectly fine for reception from satellites with medium/strong birds in their main reception areaslike Astra 1/2, Hot Bird, Eutelsat 5 West etc. but they won't be a match for the Ultra LNB series. I remember buying them alongside the Eco's for something around £6 each or four for £20 on eBay a few years ago while the IBU single was around 2.5 times the price.

That Black Premium is a wildcard that I will be comparing, that's my camping LNB, the IBU Single "Red lettering" is next to that box :)

If you're thinking of sticking a sub-50 cm dish on a motor, then I, based on my 40cm Gibertini experience, would recommend not to bother.
Because of the wider beam-width of the small dishes, the signals from the strong sats swamp the weaker ones, and makes it difficult to use them for anything but watching the strong sats (which is hardly justifying comparing sensitive LNBs).
