It would be nice to see the casting side-on exposing the fracture itself. Must have been an air pocket or foreign body in there. Probably made one hell of a bang!

That pic doesn't really show anything, but it does look very dramatic.

Also bear in mind the earth has experienced the strongest winds ever recorded during the last twelve months. Design tolerances will have to be reconsidered by all manufacturers in light of the record wind speeds.
