...inter-stellar body being very long and thin?

Indeed, I'm sure goldfish memory is catching

The story has a joint British and American space team on the Halley’s Comet-bound spacecraft HMS Churchill, commanded by Col. Tom Carlsen (Steve Railsback). Inside the head of the comet they discover a spacecraft 150 miles long by 2 miles tall. Inside the ship they encounter several mummified bat-like creatures and 3 nude humanoids suspended in crystal sarcophagi. Men aboard the Churchhill are strangely attracted to the Space Girl (Mathilda May).

It's a Reptilian ship in disguise, you should see it on the back side, photon laser blasters for those unruly sub species.

Dear me havent any of you ever read Rendezvous with Rama by ACC? Its obviously a Raman exploration ship.

There will be 2 more following it because Ramans always do everything in threes

Yes but the Ramans would have to be tiny tiny beings.
Rama I/II/II were cylindrical objects with the ecosphere on the inside.
This object was determined to be 400 meters or so in length, and have an aspect ration of at least 1:10.
This would mean that the inside is 40 meters or less in diameter.
Ramans would therefore have to be quite small to obtain meaningful living conditions.

Not to speak of the problems the earthlings would have to use the ornithopter flying in Zero G from one end to the other...

Very nice indeed, but, why Mathilda May?Mathilda May — Wikipédia

Why not ?

Back on Earth, one of the extraterrestrials, who appears to be a gorgeous woman (Mathilda May), proceeds to suck the life force out of various Londoners......

Guard: “You don’t want to go in there, sir.”

The original trajectory as it swung around the sun confirmed it was a dense mass , more than likely compressed rock.

The only question mark (apart from its origin) was the slight change of tack on its way back out of the solar system.
