Having added a BCM4505 tuner module to my Dreambox 8000, I did a blindscan to compare the results with the STB6100 tuner in my TBS6925 PCI card.

Satellite scanned was AM22 at 53E; the resulting TP's found included those on Yahsat 52.5E. The scan step value was set at 2MHz in each case.

As regards time taken for each scan, there wasn't a great deal of difference between the two: 36:26 minutes for the Dreambox, and 34:10 minutes for the TBS6925.

The TBS6925 did find three data transponders which the Dreambox missed as they were ACM transmissions, which the BCM4505 cannot resolve.

Unfortunately, the Dreambox blindscan utility doesn't have AFAIK at present a logfile for a permanent record of found results; I can't locate one in the Dreambox file system.

Is the reception of the Steerable Beam 2 of AM22 not possible? I see no results above 12500MHz.

Btw. On the report of EBS I see 18 transponders, four more than DM8000.

I restricted my scan to 10900 - 12000, I should have stated that. It was just a quick test for comparison. I'll do another scan on the missing frequencies sometime, but I'm not sure if I can receive Steerable Beam 2.

Yes, seems 11522H and 11525H are the same TP with the TBS6925 scan.

Ok thaks!

They are not. 11522H is Al Hurrya and 11525H is Aladala TV

I seem to have a problem with my Dreambox 8000 (Not a clone). It all started a couple of weeks ago.
When I boot it up the OLED display doesn't come up, the two Tuners LEDs light up, hard disk switches and even the fan (which normally comes
on as the whole boot sequence finishes.) But the Dreambox stays in that condition and boot is never achieved.
So I switch OFF from the dreambox panel switch (not the Remote it won't respond to it's commands)
Switch on again, now either from the Remote or panel switch, and the boot sequence comes up nicely all the way with the OLED display
as well, and I won't have any problems at all. Now when I switch ON again it will come up nicely again provided it's done immediately
after switching OFF, but if left for a while no luck.
Mostly it more of a bother because as I said the second time around it will be ok. Tried to change the Image but same results.
I am wondering if anyone encountered this kind of problem with his DB.

Might be a failing power supply capacitor feeding the OLED display. When you do have it booting up successfully, a residual voltage on that line may allow the box to be boot up again immediately after switching off; after a time, starting from cold again might be allowing the original fault condition.

Thanks Llew, Will try to have a look at the P/S. Just a thought there is inside a 3V battery, Lithium type, which is reading 2.94V, Don't
think it might have a say in it although come to think of it I tried to take it Off but it seems to be brazed with its contacts.

Don't know what the battery's for - mine's dead, but doesn't make any difference to the box booting up or any problems afterwards.

Check the electrolytic caps in the PSU for swelling or discolouring on their tops, in particular those in a line near the yellow chopper TX. Gets quite warm in there.

Llew thanks for your info really appreciate it......Today on an impulse I switched the Box normally from the Remote and voila it
booted perfectly, let it run for about 15 mins, switched OFF again and left it for about an hour...again switched On
and same good results...NOW I said to myself I did nothing which....except yesterday evening I switched it OFF from the
back switch ( before It was powered OFF normally from the Remote ) .....switched ON again but nothing happened, so again I switched it OFF from the Back switch...
and for some reason I pressed the FRONT switch briefly...and noticed the front bluish led come on just for a split second of time.....
Anyway I switched it ON again from the back switched and it booted up without a hitch.
That's all I can say. Perhaps the software got muddled up somehow...really don't know, but it
seems to be ok.

Glad it seems OK now zorbua. I never use the front switch - now you mention it, I seem to recall in the mists of time something similar happened to me using it instead of the rear switch.

Opening the machine earlier to check the capacitors inside, I was surprised how clean and dust-free it was, considering it has been on the open bottom shelf of the TV stand and operating continuously for many years. Due to the fan I suppose :)

20171119_173957_001 (2).jpg Yes Llew indeed it is clean. I opened it a week ago when I checked the battery voltage
and although I did clean the boards with a small brush, the Fan had a little dust accumulated
on it. But otherwise it wasn't what you might term as dirty.
I just took a photo of it just now.

Hi guys yesterday I switched my 8000 as usual and a split second later the OLED showed the word 'ERROR'. The
box wouldn't boot up at all. After trying for the umpteenth time I gave up. I don't know if its a Software fault or
hardware. I tried getting it into the flash sequence but no joy. I am trying now with the Dreamup but I have to buy
a USB to Serial convertor because my computer doesn't have a serial port. BTW anybody knows if the 8000 have a
Sim security but somebody told me to check it but for the life of me I simply don't know where it is.
