In principle yes it could be jigged up and welded, but how easy would that be to organise ( do you know any good welders who would do it for a beer or two?)

Was it wind damage in the recent gales that did it or is it just not man enough for the dish you have on the end of it. Just wondered cos it almost certainly will happen again if that is the case.

With the price of actuators at the moment you are probably best off biting the bullet and replacing it at least when the wind does blow a bit, your dish won't flap about and wreck itself.
(sorry for the doom and gloom)

good luck :)

Lucky enough one unlce runs a welding supply shop and another is a welder in the ship yard.
Hadnt set my limits and next thing Bang, power bar and everything bent. It's an 18inch jack driving a big 1.2 channel master.
Ya might be right, for the sake of 40 quid a new jack sounds more like it.
It's just a pain in the ass!No blue movies tonight!

Just a newbie myself but I'd probably replace rather than repair, keeping other parts (motor etc) for spares.

Out of interest how did that happen ?? If it was wind damage I'd agree with Lancelot and get something beefier : )

Yea for 40 quid.No wasn't wind damage. I hadn't set the limits on my v-box.The jack just went to far, snapped and bent the power bar.Nothing to serious.Don't think that there would be any point getting welded.Only good for a door stop now!

Looks like cast metal to me...... welding cast metal never makes a satisfactory repair anyway....
My 13 year old Jack went last autumn, although the motor was still good the bearing assembly rusted through and the jack shaft was coming out when it got to extreem east....
For only around £40 for a new one, its not worth the hassle of a repair really!!
