i am not talking about freesat but FTV There are still some channels that can be opened with this card Its maybe funny but you can even see preview of SBO using this card :)

BskyB is making alot problems for foreigners that want this card. For luck there is ebay.

Well in that respect they are simply reinforcing their Terms & Conditions which preclude Cards being "officially" used anywhere but in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and in the Republic of Ireland. Anyone else takes what they can get - end of story.

FTV is, effectively, dead anyway for all sorts of reasons.

Quite. But you're not the "foreigner" our friend refers to. Yorkshire is God's Country (Even the South Riding .................. !!)

I take it Virgin Media is not available in your part of the UK? Thats where my money will be going once everything goes tits up. Its the free second box for the bedroom that has won it for me. Much better than paying Sky the extra £10 a month for it.

no I cant get vm in my new home nano, but I had it at my old home and would have it here if I could, the wife liked the more recording options,

I don't watch much tv tbh I like looking for feeds etc, what I do watch is on my sky box and the odd footy game on my motorized system.

but like I say I feel for peeps who will miss out :-(.

yes I find it more of a tinkering thing always doing/looking for something fringe/feeds tweaking dish moving lnb etc, I like to be on the go doing things and this hobby suits me down to the ground whilst I am in the house :-).

my daughter has v/m and an extra box I might go over and set my slingbox up and time shift it here for more recording options for the wife :-).

No, they use different encryption types and VirginMedia ("vm") is using DVB-C (digital cable TV). Two different competing companies.

Have you not thought of using Sky Go (included on your Sky sub) on a device connected to your TV for extra viewing options (over 40 of your subscription channels) - no recording unless you pay the additional Sky Go Extra sub.

thanks dave, I do use the sky go app from time to time, but I am not paying sky anymore money it costing us just short of 100 pounds a month as it is, my wife works shifts and an extra recording option would come in use at times,

but its not the end of the world and I could soon set something up if she starts moaning more :-),

with the broadband and calls and tv it works out about 96 pound, my wife loves her tv and would be lost without her viewing.

and I thought my eyes watered when I get my £88 VM bill in every month

That said though, mine covers unlimited uk landlines and any network mobile calls 24/7 on the house phone, 60mb interweb, TiVo with the full ish except the sports and movies and the extra box in the bedroom (would be around £120 with sports and movies but they don`t get wathced in here)

SWMBO wants sky back but feck that for a game of chicken if I can`t stick the card in my DM lol

The chip contacts are not different to my Sky white card - a very early one from the swap out from blue cards Only difference I can see is the card number starts with 5 whereas mine starts with 4.
