I have looks into ordering some Cornish pasties for a family member, it's the only foodstuff with meat they will eat these days and Waitrose have discontinued their own brand ( forget those from ginsters or other brands that claim to be be the genuine article).

I might have to order ten in order to avoid a £10 charge ( the cost of almost five pasties), but for now the questions are

Has anyone ordered from this outlet before,
Are they worth it for the taste , when comparing to other brands (Ginsters aside)
Can they be frozen without trouble once delivered ?

Having looked at a number of other outlets offering similar steak pasties for delivery by post (some cooked, some uncooked and frozen) its a non starter, with the average price being just under £40 for delivery of 10 pasties.

So, the next question is,

Who has tried the Waitrose pasty (either the original peppered one in a plastic sleeve that was discontinued a few months back, or the later, boxed version), and is there one from another supplier that tastes similar ?

Any brand that is sold into the London / Surrey area is worth a go.

Firstly I will have to consider my membership here having seen you use the word Ginster and pasty in the same post :-rofl2

I appreciate that pasties by post might not be cheap but check out Prima who currently have 15% discount on their pasty hampers.

Lastly if it is not made in Cornwall you can not call it a Cornish Pasty :)

I did spend my college days in Devon and Cornwall (St Austell) so I do know a good pasty when I bite into it. Now I've settled in the South East I need pointers as it's a round trip of some 500 miles.

I might also ask later for a decent supply of hog's pudding.

I did make some when I was a student, never turned out right though (edible but the pastry was always too fragile to stay together)
From memory the filling was, in units
5 - beef
4 - potato
2 - onion
2 - swede
1 - butter / lard
slightly more pepper than salt.

Having looked online, this seems to be the easiest instruction.

If they come with free delivery you can put me down for half a dozen, they look nice. Awating feedback on how they taste...
