For those whom may be looking at fringe reception and generally interested in reception of out of footprint signals in "C band" I have attached a list here that may help you consider what is possible.

The list is a few months old , so there are several new and some that may have changed, I will attempt to update the list in the coming month!.

Please note very clearly that the satellites 80 east, 78.5 east and 75.0 east 74.0 east, are not recievable in the UK they are below the Horizon for the majoirty of the UK.

Regards to all and have fun

At 37.5 W Satcom C1 was binned on May 2nd. The replacement- Astra 4A will be operating in C-band firing into Africa in the near future..

Astra 4A is the marketing name for the African / European transponders on Worldsat 2

Hi Guys,

thanks for this. I have just motorised my 2m dish and have had a quick play on C-band and can get 40.5W 34.5W 31.5W 27.5W 22W 5W 1W and 40E at the moment. Hopefully I can get a few more with a bit of tweaking.

Cheers.

Hi Old Satellite,

I was just browsing through your list - very interesting. Especially reception from 72West. Is the 3.8M in Belgium? What do you mean by 'partial' reception - a picture or just a peak on a spectrum analyzer?

Great list, many thanks :)

Also from my side the question: Where are both dishes located and with which receiver where the scans made ?

You forgot 55.5W but i suppose even with the smaller 1.80m everything should be received without any problem, right ?

I wish many other people could create such a list as well.

Sorry for the late reply to all,

I have been in Japan for the last six weeks working to hard!

I have in Belgium a 3.8 mtr and also a 1.8 mtr, In the Uk I have a 2.0 mtr and also of recent access to a 4.2 mtr.

Partial reception means at certian times of the day the reception is good to watch, at other times of the day the signal is not sufficient to watch.

72.0 West is only visble from the UK and not Belgium at my home location there as it is at 5.59 East.

55.5 West is receivable in the UK and Belgium with many of the tramsponders received on a 2.0 mtr prime focus.

Regards to all

Thank you very much Old Satellite. :)

I am curious if the Israel beam of Amos 2 (not the weaker 1) can be gotten with any of the dishes. The analogue state channels should be the easiest of all to get with much LT. Is there any chance ?

Most European satellites dont use C-band. We use Ku band. But go here:

http://www.lyngsat.com/europe.html

and look at anything coded pink or yellow - they are carrying C-band. You can see the footprints linked off the individual charts.

Thanks for the info Old. Are you receiving the analogue on 72W with the 2m in the UK or with the 4.2m?

If it would be possible, it would be great to see a few pics of the 3.8m! I'd be especially interested to know how you motorised such a beast?

The 72.0 west satellilte is with the 4.2 mrt dish the 2.0 mtr will not see any signal at all.

The actual c band footprint is very very week, and it requires a very comprensive bandwidth modification- down to approx 3.0db ( the signal is Analogue not digital!.

The motor mounts are indeed very big and very heavy they consist in parts of a 5.5 inch pole with a mount of mainly 15 mm plate support with a main support pin of 20 mm diameter that acts as the piviot for the inclined orbit tracking.

Dispite this heavy constuction if the wind is very high -greater than 60 mph then KU band becomes quite difficult, as the dish beamwidth is very small. below this operationally it is fine and without problem

Kind regards

I Have a motorised satellite dish(1.8), is it just a question of being able to see the satellite, or do i need a different lnb and receiver(quali, technomate1500,technomate7800)to view the cband?

Hello,
You need a new LNB for C-band. 1.80m dish and your technomate are ok. 1m dish is too small. What is your 1,80m dish type; offset or primefocus?

Hi Divibi, the dish is a channel master, could you recommend a lnb I need?, also would this then pick up the ku band as well, also how do u know if a certain transponder is ku band or c band?
is it when the transponder freq is 4xxx, as opposed to 11xxx?

if this is the case last year i am quite sure i viewed a signal with only 4 digits, but since i have changed the lnb

i think in aproximently 5,to 7 years cband here in europe will be no more wimax technolgy will destroy all,and many opertors like on 40,5 west,we see,are then only in power view for cable operators in venzula and latin america!
we cant count the "cband days",here in europe,if i look to 24.5 W Intelsat, many channels from nss 806,like Humor Channel has been now sending in kuband, and will be soon paytv, and thats the problem, then the orginal source, from this satelite, will be also "closed" with power view!-

Hi there,

You've got a very good dish (it's like a professional dish that broadcasters use). I recommend an ' Infosat C/KU Combo ' LNB. You will then pick up C-band and KU-band as if nothing happens from your sofa. It's a very neat solution; not professional, but extremely user-friendly. C-band is from 3.2 - 4.2 GHz. But nowadays , really it's more like 3.7-4.2 ghz. You're right 10, 11, or 12xxx GHz is ku-band. I do not know how your Channel Master dish works with that Infosat LNB. You can ask in "DISH setup" section of this forum. Always be sure if an LNB works well with your dish and your receiver before buying anything. Find people who own Channel Master dish and ask them.

Hi:)
the infosat kombi lnb, from the thailand company,i did not tested yet,how it performs in kuband?
the other brands skyreceive and some usa brands that sells in auction house, has the problem, that the kuband lnb is fixed in postion on the site, and you cant optimeized it into the dish center, for optimal signal,so you will lost a lot!
better you make a 2.hole,on the side of the scalarring, and attached,a kuband lnb near the cband, then you can optimeized better!

infosat has many lnbs system on there site!

Just yesterday i had a talk with an owner of an Infosat C/Ku LNB. He is located in Greece and has it installed in his 3.10m Famaval. He recommends it for C-band but not for Ku. 7W should be no problem at all on 1.80m but with this he loses so much signal that even his 3.10m is not enough. Maybe the f/D in another dish lets it perform better.
