Having recently got a SKY+HD Full subscription I would like to watch/capture shows on my PC.
I am thinking of getting a Mystique SatIx - s2 Sky CI Xpress capture card, and a Diablo CAM Light.
Could anybody advise me on what else I would need/Setup.

Does SkyUK still work with the Diablo?

Cant remember any recent reports saying it does.

Not sure if it does now, haven't tried lately. In any case, a PC card with a CAM module is needed. Not sure if the OP's card can use one.

Alternatively, use a cardreader with the PC card and software emulation.

Just checked the card, it does have an inbuilt CI slot.

So where should i go from here, The Capture Card has an inbuilt CI Slot and I can use a CAM, which one should I look into buying to view SKY+HD premium channels in the UK.

Im not sure any cam works with Sky cards atm. However, if one does hopefully someone will be able to tell us. Alternatively therev is the card reader / software cam emulation route already mentioned by Llew.

Cardreader - Smargo,Omnikey or Phoenix cardreader. Software for cardreader - Oscam. I use a Duolabs CAS3+ Interface in Phoenix mode for the cardreader as I happen to have one that I use for a Diablo Cam.

Can't confirm that it is OK for a Sky+ card, as I only have a basic Sky card.

Err - thats not how forums work.

We are a self help forum - we point you in the direction of what you need to do and you do some reading for however many days or hours it takes to get a grip of the subject. Start be using the forum search with the terms Llew has given you, and settle down with a nice cup of tea.

Chances are theres a basic "how to" somewhere on the forum for setting one up - we have hundreds of guides for members to read.

Why is it easy using a card reader but using a CAM is impossible?

There's a thread here that might give you some idea of how a cardreader can be used with a Sky card in a PC, but it's a little outdated, as Oscam for Windows is the preferred method now.

A good write-up can be found on the avforum -

By all means try the Diablo CAM, but in any case you would need to purchase the Duolabs CAS3+ to program the Diablo. So if it isn't any good for using the Sky card, at least you could use the CAS3 as a cardreader with Oscam.

Because none of the hardware CAMs have the firmware required to read and use the Sky viewing cards fully. It is highly unlikely that anyone will now write the software required as CAMs have fallen out of favour and most of the programmers/hackers have moved on to developing software CAM emulators for use in Linux satellite receivers and similar. The days of non-official CAMs and their intended illegal uses have long gone as encryptions have got more secure.
