Hi,

I plan to buy a VIASAT subscription in Ukraine for the channels on 4.8E. They sell the card and box together, but since my TV has a SAT tuner and CI+ slot built in, I'd like to buy a CAM to stick in there and watch directly on my TV (without the use of the external box).

Does anyone know what CAM I need? Will any NDS-Videoguard CAM work? Can I use one of the "other" CAM's like Diablo, Matrix, etc.?

Thanks!

Argh. Are you certain?

Why is that? They have some special decoder in the box?

I found a CAM "SMIT NDS/Videoguard Professional CAM" that won't work?

Very certain. There's only one NDS encrypted provider that works with CAMs and that's Vivacom Bulgaria. You can view limited channels on Sky UK and Viasat Scandinavia in Diablo and such-like but Viasat Ukraine is hardware paired with their box, which is very difficult (but not impossible) to separate.

Ok, thanks for the (bad) news. :(
I have 2-3 subscriptions ot cable and SAT TV, it would be nice if the providers would sell the card with option of box or CAM.
...but that would be too customer-friendly I guess :-saw

It has to be their box and card. Bright Eyes here speaks French and wanted Fransat so had to buy box and card. It is really frustrating, not the cost but the clutter. If only they allowed us to buy a card and cam at the same price as a dedicated receiver.

I couldn't get the TNT card working with a Viaccess cam either, neither Smit nor Neotion. Managed it with os*** though...

I was thinking, is it possible to somehow connect the CI+ slot in my TV to the decoder box?
ie: to have the LNB connected to my TV DVB-S2 tuner, and just use the VIASAT box as an external "CAM" (ie: decrypting the signal and sending it to the TV tuner)?

Sorry, that's not possible as there's no way to feed the decrypted data back to the DVB tuner in your TV.

You're not the only one with this problem... pretty much everyone moans about not being able to use your own receiver with subscription cards :(

Blame the card share guys who resell "subscriptions" at a fraction of the actual price.

That only works for *certain* *Samsung* *TVs* (*not* receivers).

Wrong , it will work in receivers with a CI+ cam slot , 1.3rev i think ... seen it myself . .. but , whatever .. who cares ...

Oh , found a video .. but it's probably fake ..

Well, I care☺I'd have gone for fransat rather than bis if I'd have known that was possible. Extensive research led me to believe it was not. Plus I don't like to hand out inaccurate information. Did you see it working with HD channels? What was the receiver?

It was a Xorio ... or something like that .. not a known name ..

Have a look at this one as well Telecogroup/Teleco - FORCE HD CI+

As far as i know the lates VU+ models have a plugin that makes them CI+ compatible also .

OK - yes, I've read about this box. You're quite right - I stand corrected. I hadn't seen that such a CAM was available - the only one that I could find was the mini for use in certain TVs. I was convinced that you needed a labelled Fransat receiver to get Fransat. I have a later Vu+ - a solo2. Hmmmm :)

I still have a Fransat card lying around somewhere - was never able to use it, though, as I don't have a compatible CAM or receiver for it.
