can i use a sky+ box in egypt??

erm,not sure, have 120cm dish and upgrading to a 180cm dish, in egypt!

hi guys,
can anyone help?? i am using the showtime service in egypt and want to know if i buy a sky+ box in london can i use it here in egypt instead of my usual decoder? or is a different signal sent from the saterlite provider for use with a box like the sky+ box?
any help would be most grateful

Hi,

No, you would not be able to use a Sky+ box for Showtime. Showtime is Irdeto, Sky boxes can only do Videoguard, plus the Sky box is only of any real use on 28E.

Not sure if it would be possible to get a generic satellite receiver with an Irdeto CAM, as I don't know whether Showtime pair cards with receivers.

Showtime do not pair cards but they do a "Showbox". This box can not only record 2 channels but can output 2 different channels at the same time (I believe its one via RF and one via Scart).

As you are in Egypt you should check out the official box.
