Old sky dish now is used for freeview and freesat connected to LG Smart Tv (tv has a freeview and freesat tuner so can swap between them) (laptop msi ge60 2qd 16gb Memory , Nvidia Geforce 950M graphics card, 1 x 250 GB ssd drive 1 x 500 gb ssd drive.

Hi,

I use to have sky, but we got rid off it in 2016 and I have a Sky/Freesat quad LNB free and was wondering if its possible to use on my old dish please ? Both my Lg smart tv's have both freeview and freesat tuners. I would rather be able to change the lnb than mess around with a cable splitter etc

Any help would be much appreciated. I will get pictures of the satellite and Lnb today for you all.

Thank You

Hi, depends on how old the dish is, the early dishes had a thin boom and whilst there are adapters for the latest Sky LNBs, I don't think they are widely available. The later version adapters for the larger rectangular booms (as shown)lnb-holder.jpg are on ebay. Cable should be fine.

Hi, we got rid of the old Sky dish and my dad got another from his friends, I think the year 2000 or just after I will take a picture for you today when it gets lighter. Of the lnb and the dish.

That is one of the earliest Sky dishes, with the thin boom as Rolf says. I have some adapters in a box for those, but they always needed filing off plastic to slot in to the metal.

Since you have a pole rather than an integral mounting system, you can get a compatible new dish delivered for under £20 these days, but you will need to have some experience of aligning, and a meter unless you are patient with a wet tea towel.

Hi,

I am in Worcester , West-midlands my oldest brother was going split the cable using a 4 way cable spliter I have but since he threw my expensive jewellery out and stole stuff and mistreated my dog he is now barred from the house. My dad would of done it but he sadly passed away 11th October 2018 and my mum passed away 7th May 2017.

I was also thinking if this would be a good idea :- Sky MK4 LNB Holder MTI Legacy Adapter Sky 40mm Raven Satellite TV Dish | eBay

Also the splitter I have is like this one :- 4 Way F Type Screw Connector Splitter TV Virgin Cable Sky Satellite Freeview 5056098702918 | eBay

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Cable splitters just split the sat feed signal, but that significantly reduces the signal level to each receiver, and might not (depends on the splitter) allow a particular receiver to select the Horizontally or Vertically polarized channels - not recommended!

Probaby, but ignore the "4K" bit because that's only available on Sky Q and that needs a new reciever and a totally different LNB - and more cash every month!

As for heights, probably best to get a GOOD local installer (anyone on the forum voulunteering ?) to do the job.

Thank You, I am willing to pay for them to install it and connect it up to the 55 inch tv downstairs and the little 36 inch in my bedroom the rest can wait.

Thank You

Does your bedroom television have a satellite tuner, like your lounge television? If not you'll need a cheap, satellite receiver, for the bedroom, which are quite cheap.
The installation itself shouldn't be that expensive, as it's only for Astra 2, 28.2E, and a simple cable run.
