can`t get arabsat/turksat

I live in NE Scotland and have 1.2m dish with 0.7db lnb serving Pace analogue and Humax 5300 digital receivers. I can only get sparkly analogue pictures on 26E and 42E, and no digital picture. There is no physical obstruction and I think the dish is well aligned as I get reception from 45W to 45E, including the "weaker" satellites such as 15W and 7E. Cable length is about 30m, and a line amplifier made no difference.
Would it be worth investing in a 0.3db lnb, I believe made by Syntec, to maximise the signal? Any other suggestions? Thanks

From memory the 42E digital channels require a bigger dish than 1.2 metres, particularly if you're up in Scotland. It may of course be that your arc is very slightly out as well.

With regard to the LNB, I'm not convinced how much difference the 0.3 would make if the signal strength is not there in the first place (and it's a lot of money if there is no gain).

The east beam of Turksat (42e) is not receivable at all in the UK, and the West beam is very stronmg across all of it (even including up to the NE Scotland). Your 1.2m dish should be more than adequate.

Arabsat2A at 26e carries three beams: 1 ku-band you won't get anywhere in the UK, and 2 c-band beams which at your location are too weak for the size of dish.

Arabsat2B is also at 26e and has one c-band beam which almost certainly will be bbeyond your reach (a 2m dish at your location would probably do it).

Arabsat3A at 26e has a single ku-band beam and that may be the one you're receiving weakly. The signal strength drops off rapidly from Northern England upwards. Probably you'd need a bigger dish rather than a better LNB.

I'm not sure why you describe Eutelsatw3 at 7e and Telstar12 at 45w as "weaker satellites". Their signals are MUCH stronger at your location than the ones at 42e & 26e...

Thanks for the advice Rolf. "What Satellite" does say 1.2m is sufficient, but I know that`s not always accurate. I suppose there`s no way of checking the alignment to that accuracy, other than using an expensive signal meter, which I don`t have?

What you say makes sense as my brother in Reading gets 26E with a 1m dish no problem so it looks like I`ll have to move south or give up!

I meant that 15W and 7E were "weaker" than hotbird and astra, making it less likely that alignment was the problem, tho` still possible, as Rolf points out

You don't really wan't to move to Reading and pay Reading house prices do you Ckrys1 ?

The differential equates to a lot of dish.
