As the title states..... an elderly relative is leaving Sky in a couple of weeks time and is wondering if she will be able to continue using her Sky email address when all her TV & Broadband services end ?

Thank you

I don't know about now BUT....... They did, I was one of their first BB customers and had a email address made up for me by them for the "My$ky" side of things like account management ect. They used to maintain the mail servers, they then sold it onto Google to maintain for a year (Seriously) then it was changed over to Yahoo to maintain, since then you absolutely must sign in and actually send a mail at least once every six months as they (Yahoo) have had a right old clamp down on their email account usage policy. Long story short I never got a notice on this change and they deleted my address the tossers so be warned.

P.S. For fellow forum members benefits, I'm sure the O.P.'s asking as companies like Virgin Media bin your email address when you leave their services so wise to ask!

My sky email addresses are still working, even though I switched from Sky broadband, a few years ago, never been a Sky satellite subscriber.

I'd fell away from using mine as I'd had numerous problems with the Yahoo Mail app on android, would randomly sign me out and they say my login credentials were wrong (Was full of bloody advertising as well) so I hadn't logged in.......boof! Gone! Sods, had pics of my daughter ect in mails on there.

It’s best to use something like google mail, then when you do change provider you are not held to ransom over the email address.

I never have used the email the provider gave me, only to log in and check billing issues.

Your spot on mate, If I'd of known what was happening with Yahoo being @ssholes I'd of made sure to forward the important stuff onto my Gmail address, lesson learned!

Thanks for the replies folks....

She's quite elderly and very stuck in her ways. Google had already suggested Sky wouldn't delete her email, but as Ghostleader already correctly pointed out some ISP's do delete your email account when you leave......

I told her I am a member of a close knit Satellite forum and I would ask :Y

So I have just phoned and let her know...

I do agree that having Gmail, Outlook etc... is handier but would be a real pia because of the amount of online shopping she does and companies that would need the email updated on

Thanks again !
