I have found some old Canal + analogue receivers for sale (for using on 30w). They have a chip that slots into the front of the receiver (probably used to decode CANAL + when encrypted). Does anyone know if this box and chip will be able to decode the channel, or will I need to subscribe?? I'd prefer it on analogue as it is cheaper to but the equipment and I only want that channel.

Thanks

You'd probably just be better off hacking TV Cabo on 30w digital. Lots of English + Spanish stuff.

I don't think it is worth even trying to get a subscription for Canal on 30w analogue, it's only one single channel (I think?), they probably aren't accepting new subscriptions and they broadcast FTA for at least part of the day.

Edit: Have just re-read your post. :-doh! Sorry, I jumped the gun a bit there :D

What is on Canal+ 30w analogue channel?

It is an Entertainment channel in Spanish; a bit like Sky 1 (I speak spanish). Yes it is just the one channel on analogue, but that's only what I want to watch. Most of the digital channels are not much good.
How do you go about hacking Tv Cabo?

For hacking TV Cabo you will need a propper digital reciever (from about £80?), a CAM, Card and Card programer I think. AFAIK it's quite easy to hack.

Some of the English stuff includes Bloomberg, Cartoon Network, MTV, MTV2, MTV Hits, MTV Base, Discovery, BBC Prime, BBC World, CNBC, etc, Some "VOD" movie channels etc.

A few other channels like TCM might have an English soundtrack.

It;s a very attractive option, as It's the only real alternative to Sky Digital if your not willing to pay anything :D

It may be possible to hack Canal+ on 30W Analogue, I would have thought a run-down analogue service with only one channel remaining would have wanted to close down, therefore would not accept any new subscriptions. As pretty much every other country is attempting to make the switch except Germany... Who will have analoguesat for many years to come.

When was TV Cabo going to go? I would prefere to get a offical sub instead of messing around with cards all the time I heard its only €5 a month or something?
