Do they know something we don`t about the 2F (UK) footprint lol, seems a little odd to promote something that might be as good as an ashtray on a motorbike in a few weeks

We know there could be a little over spill into Europe, but, for all we know the 2F (UK) footprint might well cover the UK and 5 or so miles out to sea around the UK and little else

North western Europe nearest the UK (most of France, the Benelux countries etc) wont have any problems at all with 2F - the spots cant be made tight enough to exclude the immediate area around the UK.

In fact with higher power levels centred over the UK it'll probably be EASIER if anything to get the BBC in the Benelux!

CanalDigitaal is promoting this "triplesat" (a downscaled version of the german Technisat "multytenne" - without Hot Bird) already for years.
Don't know what the fuzz is about, on broadbandtvnews.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. This is nothing new.

But indeed like smoggy07 says, the timing of this promotion is remarkable.
M7 provider has close bonds with operator SES.
This gives some confidence Astra 2F coverage in NL should be fine with that small dish.

Edit: or, M7 wants get rid of these dishes before it's too late. :confused

SES has confirmed that the Astra 2F most likely can be received in The Netherlands with a small dish:

Source; The last paragraph of _http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=nl&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.totaaltv.nl%2Fnieuws%2F9612%2FLanceerdatum_Astra_2F_satelliet_bekend.html

I don't believe it's a real problem that the Astra 2 can be received in The Netherlands and Belgium. In both countries the reception of television is mostly by cable and IPTV which offers BBC 1-4 (including the children's channels). Those providers pay the BBC. DTH via satellite is relatively small and a large part of the Canal Digitaal subscribers are living abroad (mostly Spain, the elderly).

Dutch cable companies have included the BBC channels for years - afaik they also pay the Beeb a licensing fee for their use :)

That's right. The beeb 1 and 2 are now even available on the terrestrial in The Netherlands (encrypted, so no reception in the border regions for Germany or Belgium). But all providers pay a licensing fee.
