Anyone come across this before.

Phoned up to say I was thinking about cancelling Sky and after a long conversation they offered me a £20 one off refund if I would think about it for a month or two. Not unexpected since I've seen similar reports before. So far so good.

Then I get two letters, same date. One letter says - you will get your £20 refund shortly. Other letter says - sorry you are cancelling Sky, your viewing will end on this date.

Not really worried about which way it will go but what do you think is happening?

Yes, strange indeed, probably just another case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. :)

Sky have withdrawn many of the offers made to folks threatening to cancel, so dont try it unless you REALLY mean it!

(It had got to epidemic proportions after the scheme appeared on one of the money saving tips websites.)

Thanks for the replies and I'll let you know what happens in a month's time so other people can see what happens if they try this.

The £20 hasn't turned up yet either, and it was some time ago I phoned them.

A friend of mine had Sky+ installed just over six weeks ago. He has had no end of problems with his Sky+ box and Thursday night was no exception: the box itself switched itself off and has since died. Plug it into the mains and nothing - not even any LEDs light up.

He telephoned Sky and was told the earliest an engineer could come out was Tuesday. So, Sky expected him to have no TV for the next five days and after a heated argument with the Sky operator, my friend politely told Sky to "stick it".

He has since been offered a free replacement box and a discount on his subscription! It appears that when you stand up to Sky they will then pamper you and give in.
